Console friendly?

(FlatLineDisaster) #1

Okay don’t hurt me to bad. I played Team Fortress Classic for 7 years, and TF2 a bit. I don’t have the money to upgrade my machine to run Brink. I have a ps3/360. I really was looking to get it on the PS3 until the network has been down for weeks…so may get it for the 360 now. But has this game mainly been made for PC and just ported to consoles? I notice mainly people here are going to play it on PC. Do you think this game will be dead on consoles? And while I would much rather game with a KB/Mouse but money is tight. :frowning:

Thanks, FlatLineDisaster

I own a PS3 so I’m a bit biased. But if I were you, I’d look at which set of friends do you think you’ll play longer/better with in an objective based game? Who do you think would be willing to support more instead of being K/D whores? And that’s the platform I’d go with. The one with friends you’d enjoy playing with more.

Sony is one of the largest corporations in the world. The last thing they want to do is leave a bad taste in peoples’ mouths after this. They’re going to want to fix it, and fix it for good ASAP. They realize they’re losing money the longer it’s down. I wouldn’t let this outage affect which you pick. Just my 2c though.

Well I am not blaming Sony. But I won’t buy Brink for PS3 if the network is down on May 10th. If it is back up before then I will gladly purchase it for PS3 (had to cancel my credit card just to get M$ to stop charging me for Live) but all my friends on PC from TFC has moved on and stopped gaming. So I basically have no one on either platform. So yeah lol

I don’t think it will be down on the 10th. I honestly don’t. If that happens I can honestly say I’ll sell my PS3 in protest.

(Well. Promises being what they are… I MIGHT sell my PS3 in protest.)

I am just really wondering if there will be enough people on PS3 to even play with…after the outage of PSN. And was wondering if its as user friendly to play the game on consoles (controllers compared to mouse/kb) I only worry about this because I notice more people buying it for PC than anything else.

You’ll probably notice more people on this site buying it for PC because it is the developers site who are more attuned to PC gaming before Brink (for the most part). But I know there have been a few threads about PSN users and Xbox360 users. So i’m sure there will be a large player base for both. That and there haven’t really been many FPS releases for consoles lately. On top of that I know a buddy of mine that works at Gamestop told me that the store has been pushing Brink pre-orders and up-selling it on the pre order pack it comes with.

As far as the curve on controllers as opposed to KB/mouse I know that PC gamers play differently and the aiming is more responsive and you can pull some pretty nasty tricks and pivots. I don’t think the console will be any different (for me at least, because I’m used to FPS on consoles), but if you are coming offa playing FPS on PCs then I’m sure Brink will feel very different to you with a controller in your hands. But as far as I can tell from the vids released, the user friendly-ness is apparent in the consoles as well. Just seems more like keyboard turning with controllers, instead of being able to pivot like the wind.

I own both a decent PC and a 360, but I’m getting it on the 360.

The only games I have on my PC are RTS games.

(trigg3r) #8

i think Brink is selling much better on the 360 than the PS3 so if i’d have to pick one i’d with the xbox.

Also don’t get confused; yes, most of the members on this forum are PC gamers, but if you go to the bethesda forums is the other way around. So don’t worry, you’ll have ppl to play with in any platform

(tokamak) #9

Yeah that will teach Sony…

(Mustang) #10

What did you do to the 360 to make it decent?
(Sorry, couldn’t resist)

(RAAAAAAAAAAGE) #11

It was said many times SD are giving Brink equal love on all platforms. So you should be fine getting it on consoles. As for the kb+m not being as good as the controller… talk to Hyrage

Thanks everyone!

developers tried as best as they can, even sacrificing some game features into “consolefriendliness”, but how effective thats all in result - players to judge.

p.s.
dont have cash for upgrade PC hardware but had cash for “console” games ?
meaning 3x 4x games ==/equal to HW upgrade, quickly reveal you as big, fat console troll, hired by pesky “consoles” manufacturers.

I own 2 games on the PS3, this will be my 3rd. This is after owning my PS3 for 2 years. My current desktop is still on a single core cpu :stuck_out_tongue: Very out dated graphics card. I don’t see how not buying 3 ps3 games could possibly build me a pc to run this game. Thanks for your concern.

I got a UT3 faceplate!

You probably don’t vote, either, huh Toka?

(DouglasDanger) #17

I hope brink is good on all platforms. I have an ancient PC and ps3. We know there were several betas for the ps3, and they have apparently been tweaking the 360 version, as there is a day one patch.

(raib) #18

If anything it seems to be the other way around, as there hasn’t been any PC footage shown yet as far as I know.

I really hope it doesn’t turn out to be that way and they tune the pc version for m+kb though, a console port would be piss easy and thus boring.

(Mustang) #19

If anything it’s the other way around, SD have never produced a console game before.

I said it + random fact = insta-truth?

(raib) #20

Irrelevant.
