Console Aim Sensitivity

(Jess Alon) #1

Does anyone have any idea what the max sensitivity is like in Brink to aim look? I think there’s something about it on the bethesda forums. But they don’t let me go over there anymore. So if someone could do a run down for me because the searches on this forum are turning up nothing.

I’m just wondering how I can turn around as a lot of naysayers are saying everything is so slow from what they see in videos. For a point of reference I generally play borderlands on the 360 at 80 on the sensitivity and on BFBC2 I play it on max.

So anyone know where I could dig that information up?

I know it’s so abstract that it’s hard to explain but is there anything out there that gives an idea of the range of Brink’s sensitivity settings? I haven’t really seen it talked about.

theres a video interview with paul saying you could customize it and make deadspots and what not but he never said just how fast you could turn

(Jess Alon) #3

I remember that. But yeah I haven’t seen much on max settings. Which could come in handy for light players that want to turn around and jump off walls or do REALLY tricky moves.

(MatthiasK75) #4

i assume they have it up to ATLEAST call of duty speed, since they even have a controler layout dedicated to it

I swear I read recently that there is a kind of aim acceleration when wall hopping so that lights can wall hop off of a wall onto a ledge.

(Mr. Magikarp) #6

I read that too. I’d also like to baselessly claim that there has not been a console shooter in the past decade that hasn’t offered a slider to increase/decrease look sensitivity.

You set it to max of BC2? I have it at like half.

I think it’ll match or be higher than the Call Of Duty max speed. Isn’t “mobility” this games magic touch? If you can run up walls and be agile, I don’t see any reason for them to lower the bar on sensitivity…

BC2 feels so sluggish to me. I really liked it, and I didn’t even realize how cumbersome the console sensitivity felt to me until I saw someone play BC2 on PC and I was like “Wow! He doesn’t have any trouble aiming at all!”

(Jess Alon) #10

Maybe that’s why I suck so bad.

(Linsolv) #11

There’s high sens players and low sens players on every platform. It’s personal preference more than any one correct setting.

(Herandar) #12

I play by the mantra: set it to the highest sensitivity and adjust. Not that my hand-eye coordination is that fine.

As a shotgun aficionado I can’t help but always have my settings at their highest on every game I play.

I’m lucky that I’m able to have very tight control around the deadzone, once I get used to what the deadzone is for a game, so I can have precision aim (aim assist even hurts as often as it helps). While also being able to play at sensitivities that allow me to do a 180 with the flick of a stick. I can’t even play a game that doesn’t have at least COD’s equivalent of 8.

Until recently not many games allowed for such high sensitivities but more and more are starting to take a cue from COD. Even Dead Space 2 had an option for a very fast turn speed where Dead Space 1 didn’t even have a sensitivity option and it would take a minute to do a 180. I think Bulletstorm is the only shooter in the past two years that had an unplayable slow max turn speed and god awful acceleration.

Bulletstorm was god awful in so many interesting and creative ways.

Honestly, sensitivity is a setting that IMO takes a good bit of tuning, but not having a high enough top end is a cardinal sin. I should be able to see a guy in my peripheral vision, turn, and shoot him before I die. That’s the bare minimum.

True, at least it tried. The ways in which it could have been better are too obvious though.

I’ll second that. Kind of

On single-player, I start from the middle, then work my way in the appropriate direction. For multiplayer, I start at the top and work down.

because of how Brink is built, single-player IS multiplayer. So I’ll be doing what you do.

(StormforceRecon) #18

I hope it is higher than BC2’s. Not that BC2’s was too slow, I just wish it was a little higher. The higher speeds feel much more comfortable to me.

(MatthiasK75) #19

i play at max on both cod games and BC2

(StormforceRecon) #20

Same. I change the sensitivity to max before I even start my first match/begin campaign. If its not on max, it drives me insane.
