"Connection to the game session has been lost"

Whenever I connect to a server I am booted within 1 minute with that error.

I have forwarded my ports and verified they are open. I have a stable connection and am able to play other games fine. A friend in one of the servers I tried to connect to reported seeing a “Could Not Authenticate User” error come up on his screen when I tried to join. I guess the two are linked.

This has been reported on the Steam and Bethesda forums, with no help what so ever.

Hello even i am having the same problem, this has gotten really annoying, the only time i connected to a game was by going through the steam server browser, i cant play a public campaign mode :(.
i hope there will be a fix for the game

before i get disconnected i noticed i see a massive red X on the bottom of the screen

Also had this problem when trying to play a campaign mission online - got booted with the connection error within a minute of entering the game every time.

Apparently this is a known issue with Thomson routers and some Steam games - my router is indeed a Thomson.

Read somewhere about turning off uPnP on the router as a possible fix. Tried it and it seems to have done the trick. No idea why.

tried the uPnP thing and couldn’t make it either. (I’m also a Thomson user btw XD)

removed the “instructions” because it only worked once…

Yes, this is definitely a bug that exists as I also have it. What you should do is when you get disconnected just open the console by pressing CTRL + ALT + ` then type reconnect and hit enter. This will reconnect you to the server and you shouldn’t be disconnected this time.

Obviously this is only a temporary fix and Splash Damage should be working on this as a top priority as this could really drive people away from this game.

My new router arrived and it solved this issue immediately. This is an issue with the Thomson O2/BT routers.
