Connection Timed Out when trying to join a server.

(Starman0) #1

I play on a private server with a group of people, and I was playing on it just fine since the guy started it two days ago, and now all of a sudden I get a connection timed out everytime I try and join. Other people are playing on it right now, but I can’t get in. Other servers on the server list work for me though.

What gives?

Seriously Splash, nothing? How can you not even give me an answer on this? I can’t play online because of this error. My money feels completely wasted right now because I can’t even play.

Going to bump this again in hopes that someone knows why this is happening.

I have the same problem … but don’t blame Splash for not responding to this, this is the Community Tech Help board

Hi there and thanks for both posting.

Can you check the information in this thread and see if that describes your issue?

Hi Crispy:

That thread is about a crash during server connect. My issue is different, see below

Through Steam I installed Brink Dedicated Server, and configured it using the PDF in the brink dedicated server directory. I’ve forwarded 27015, 27016 and 8766 TCP/UDP, and put in the correct command in Steam so two instances can run. I limited Brink Dedicated Server to 1 logical thread, and also added +set net_serverPortAuth 1 to the batch file. Both the Brink client and Dedicated Server both have been allowed through my firewall.

I’m having a few problems.

  1. When I search for servers in the game itself, none are found.

  2. After using the batch file to load the console. I use:

Exec server_objective_standard_vs.cfg

and start the server with:

spawnServer sp/challenge_01.entities

The problem is I can’t connect to the thing no matter what I do.

Specifically when I attempt to Direct Connect to any server, I always get a Timed Out Connection Error
