Connecting to my own dedicated server

Through Steam I installed Brink Dedicated Server, and configured it using the PDF in the brink dedicated server directory. I’ve forwarded 27015, 27016 and 8766 TCP/UDP, and put in the correct command in Steam so two instances can run. I limited Brink Dedicated Server to 1 logical thread, and also added +set net_serverPortAuth 1 to the batch file. Both the Brink client and Dedicated Server both have been allowed through my firewall.

I’m having a few problems.

  1. When I search for servers in the game itself, none are found.

  2. After using the batch file to load the console. I use:

        Exec server_objective_standard_vs.cfg

    and start the server with:

    spawnServer sp/challenge_01.entities

    The problem is I can’t connect to the thing no matter what I do.

when ur in the game trying to connect bring the console down and tell me what error is it giving you? is it just trying to reconnect? or are u getting an actual error? ive noticed when i try to connect to my own dedicated srver once i first try and connect it gives me an error like “attempted connect while we were trying to initialise” and then it just keeps trying to reconnect, and then i noticed that the dedicated server console dissappeared from my desktop.

The error is always “Connection Error - Timed Out”

I suspect I’ve configured something wrong, I just can’t figure out what it is

I’m getting that error no matter what server I try to Direct Connect to

No help? I figured this would be an easy fix

Both problems still persist even after applying patch 3

Is the server and client on the same machine? Your server startup seems fine and you should see some ‘positive’ console activity when you spawn it. I have successfully connected to a server on my lan (not the same machine as client) through the browser, but need more setup info to help.

Same machine … and while I do see the console responding what appears to be appropriately when I spawn the server, my problem is connection. I can’t connect to anything, and always with the same error.
