i have a few questions to ask:
1)what do i do to prevent the player from looking underneath the map (in specatur mode)
2)what bsp/build do u use when u are ready to publish ur map for download?
3)and how do i import a jpeg texture into the radiant? cos theres nuthing in the textures menu.

  1. If a spectator can get underneath, your map is not really well designed since a player would be able to get there too. Make sure all sides are sealed off and a player cannot drop trough. If you could give a screenshot, we could suggest a more specific sollution, but it’s considered basic mapping.
  2. It’s your choice, but mostly you take one of the (final) series. Do mind though that the last one uses “-bounce 8” which gives serious compile times.
  3. This has been said quite some times before, search around for a while using the little search button at the top of the page.

i have another question, i took ur advice on the using the (final) to compile my map and it turns out that i have to use lighting. whenever i use the (testing) to compile my map i didnt have to worry about the lighting, so is it ok if i compile my map has a (test) and then post it for download? cos when i use it that way the lighting is just the way i want it to be +i was never a fan of the lighting anyway.

(btw i fixedup my map and the player wont b able to look underneath and my texture problem still isnt fixed)

You could use the (test) series, but you’re map normally doesn’t look so good. Of ocurse, if it’s the way you intended it, you can surely post it as it is.

About the texture probel: how do you texture your map right now? Trough the texture menu, right?
Your textures must be multiples of 2 in size, like 128x512 (use any multiple of 2)
If you want to add a texture, make a folder in etmain/textures with the name of your map. Put your new textures in the folder and reload Radiant (or do “Flush and reload shaders” in Radiant whilst it’s running) making sure the option in the texture menu “shaderlist.txt only” is OFF.

Give us some more info if it doesn’t work.

well theres no textures folder in my etmain.

btw i was thinking of adding sum fog do u know where to direct me to a tutorial on a step by step guide on making it?cos all the threads i found were of people already knowing how to make a fog but had more advanced fog issues and will having a fog in my map decrease fps?
and will compiling my map in (test) also change fps?
