Concerns for and potential of Dirty Bomb

I think prone and lean slow down the gameplay unfavorably, promoting camping and hiding behind cover, instead of moving around the enemy and battling. I would prefer no prone or lean in Dirty Bomb.

Proning in W:ET didn’t slow down gameplay at all. Proning in combat was unfavorable, at all times, since you were a sitting duck. Nobody tried to prone + shoot. Same with leaning, you could lean and see behind corners, but you were unable to shoot, so you had an incentive to stop leaning asap.

I agree. Proning was a necessity to complete certain objectives. (Battery assault ramp comes to mind).

I hope their isn’t prone or lean. I believe both mechanics are unnecessary in this style of shooter and should be used in MMS’s like CoD and MoH etc.

lean in the original RTCW/W:ET was good, though it led to quite a lot of corner camping. This was countered by being unable to shoot while leaning, so was more meant to be a stealth mechanic - if it makes it back into DB I wont complain. prone isnt necessary at all. period.

As for Kendle’s earlier point about damage, I think the balance was right in RTCW and to a certain extent Brink, whereby a good duel can take place, I’d rather not have the ‘same’ old CS/DoD/CoD damage model…

Actually everybody did (prone in combat) because proning abused a glitch in the hit-boxes that made it a viable tactic. I think ETPro fixed it, and maybe other mods, but proning in original ETMain was very badly implemented. I wouldn’t shed a tear if there were no prone in DB. If there is I’d expect it to work properly, and to genuinely penalise doing so in combat.

I’d agree with that sentence, but I’d take DOD out because it has a very different damage model and weapon behaviour compared to CS and COD. In fact DOD is the only game I’ve ever played were SMG’s, AR’s and bolt action Rifles (and 1-shot Snipers) are all used and all balanced against each other. There’s nothing “same old” about DOD, it’s as unique as ET is, and, unfortunately, occupies a very small niche as a result.

Honestly, I think some people have issues with how awkward a mouse and keyboard feels as opposed to controllers, perhaps because they didn’t have PC shooters growing up, while I get why it is better, does not make it easier to learn, I’ve tried with a mouse before and after years I’ve not had progress being any better, maybe because it need reflexes I’m not capable of. I’m NOT asking for the auto-aim people stick in FPS games, but maybe at least some tweaks for /optional/ controller support would be OK?

You seriously dig in graves only to bring up a console argument? What the heck is wrong with?

the biggest problem i see with the game so far is when you go up against a stacked team. i wish they would auto balance by level each round cause it destroys the experience. i was just playing on a team that no team mate was above level 3 and it put us against a team with level 20+ the whole team it was pretty ridiculous. the game is a lot of fun been watching for years and im so glad i am actually allowed to play it finally  i love you splash damage been a fan of yours since wolf et days

Like Lafie said, Video games can escape reality. Why not take advantage of it. Movies do the same and you don’t ruin it by turning on smooth “natural” motion, using accurate color correction, or making people watch the everyday mundane stuff. I’d rather not be tied down in a video game by the same rules i’m forced to put up with all day. Run 20mph? Jump 6 ft? Sustain massive damage? Fine give it. Want reality? Join the Army.

-oh and console sucks.
