Single Player games should be refined to the 1990s when the internet was crap and not so widespread. Today in the age of broadband, only noobs should be playing single player. No matter how good they make it single player will always lack the Real Intelligence factor of the opponent so ET will live on after HL2.

I play online just about everyday. Mainly Q3 but ET as well. I like HL2’s SP, i think it rocks. So please, define noob. I get called that alot when i kill people in Q3 (mainly from euros) and would just LOVE an in depth explanation of what a noob is. I killed you, yet im the noob

whenever anyone says “n00b” or any variation of that word, read it as “i am inferior to you, and i am quite frustrated about it, so i am lashing out at you in anger” - adjust to your own taste, as long as you replace the insult with it’s true meaning, which is bitter, gut-wrenching jealousy

I always find that those with aggressive disfunction and can’t grasp simple things call people noobs. The defanition i prefer is someone who thinks they’re good at the game, but is actually crap… but blame everyone else and every thing for this. So really the people calling others noobs are infact a noob themselves… they just dont know it. Kinda like Sxth Sense

you are denying there are no noobs on gaming servers, everyone is just uber pro? xD
Some pros also call people noobs out of frustration, in game if im trying to do something and some guy is being unhelpful or not listening or whatever or does something stupid, i may well call him a noob. (im not claiming to be pro but merely providing an example)
HL2 is a good game…but the characters are gayer than an episode of “the wiggles.”
I call engies noobs when all they want to do is shoot rifle grenades at axis, so I have to switch to actually try to do the objectives.

etmaster doesn’t show server
etkey can’t get refreshed - so can only join servers for split second before get kicked off

Oh and HL2 - nah it wont take too many ppl away - completed it in 2 days - and for CS its a pile of wank - hit boxes and laughable - killing people while your aiming at thin air - oh yeah great work
when you say refreshed did you type /pb_cdkeyreg ?
Make sure et server browser is set to Internet 
and make sure your firewall isnt blocking the master server…
Never any master server problems if you use All Seeing Eye - the only program I’ve ever registered, or that I’ve paid for unnecessarily. Also lots of other good features like a good favourites system and good filters to help you find what you want. Strongly reccomended.
CS:S and various new HL2 mods will draw some more players from ET, but IMHO most players who would go to CS:S etc would already be playing it.
IMO ‘newbie’ has positive connitations of one who is simply inexperienced, while a ‘noob’ is the negative version - someone who seems ignorant to his/her lack of basic knowledge of the game and/or appears unwilling to try and figure things out.
