Comprehensive List of Brink Improvements

Hello everyone!

I am one of the many who have been following this game since its birth, and are disappointed with the current product. I am also a moderator of Reddit’s /r/Brink!

On /r/Brink, we are collectively building a list of improvements that could be made to the game (when I say improvements, I unfortunately also mean current faults on occasion). We’d love to have some input from our friends on the SD forums too! Here’s the post on the subject. Here’s what we have come up in the matter of an hour. We’re looking for some more input so we can help SD help us!

[/li][li] Underdeveloped campaign/story mode. DLCs? Maybe leaving room for sequel?

i wold love more crosshairs like ET i just like one point not the dam cyrcle lol.

And some way to request Ammo or Heal from someone…like ET also… idk if there is already something like that but HUD sucks when your teammates arent paying atention and you must writte them for a ****ing ammo xD

And some better chat when game before is starting…cuz it sucks to have to select them.

I would love to be able to see player levels. I mean seriously, COD does it, BF does it, this game has a huge emphasis on building your character and XP. In online matches, I want to know if I’m getting my ass handed to me because the player is genuinely better, or if they’re 10 levels up on me and have better weapons/armor.

I cannot believe they didn’t include this. Almost as bad as not being able to easily chat between matches. Tons of the post-game information could all be on one screen, not in 5 different tabs.

Not sure, but is reloading while sliding covered under the spirnting reload ability, since you’re technically sprinting when sliding?

reloading while sliding…wouldnt that result in ppl sliding all over the place in a fire fight to get a reload advantage…and realistically it would be a hard thing to accomplish irl aswell lol
Also aim assit is what everyone wants out of the game on a PC. Most pc users prefer raw input.

The rest of i agree with to some extent

grenades feel very weak atm. Shot a guy 2 times with the nade launcher and he didnt die.

No one can be 10 levels higher then you and be in your game UNLESS you choose an option to join higher ranked players in their games.

There are diffrent ranks, rank 1 is 1-5 rank 2 is 6-10 or something like that, i forget, but the point is, everyone goes into a group based on their rank and everyone plays within those groups.

Devs said grenades were never ment for killing, they are for knocking enemies down, doing AOE damage, and crowd control.

i’de like my character to not delete after hours of gameplay… it happens when you load up the game through steam and then alt+f4 / quit before it loads the character in game… i realized i forgot to do something and had to leave the game quickly, when i alt f4’d it went to sync with steam cloud and seems like it synched 0 characters instead of my 1 character

to add to DLC, i would also like to see a lot more outfits and guns, the way they showed in the trailer made it seem like there was going to be so much stuff that everyone was going to be unique. the way it’s setup right now i just feel like my character looks like everyone else which makes it even more boring.

I personally find the running away while trying to plant a turret a bit annoying. I’ll be deploying one, somebody will start shooting me and I just want to bail out - but instead I just kinda move slooowly away. I understand all I gotta do is swap back to my weapon, but it’s kind of unintuitive to me. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, though.

I have a few other little ‘tweaks’ but I can’t think of them at the moment.

Biggest things that have stood out to me in the game, ready and wanting to be tweaked are…

MG Nests, are literally worthless due to their next to nothing damage. Really it is so low that I almost half have a feeling they are bugged right now. This makes them not worth even using and by default makes their placement not strategic or helpful to anyone.

Turrets targeting and range very weak, fire/targeting sequence also incredibly slow. Few friends and I tested this after noticing on freeplay and found that a player can run directly at a turret and break them with a full clip of ar before the turret will even target them. Their damage is fine, health perhaps on the low side but fine if the targeting and firing were to be tightened up a lot. Considering they are a three point 5th rank skill, makes me want to say they are not worth their cost at all as is.

90% of the guns are worthless compared to the other 10%, the stat bars in their view sections also seem to be off as in some with lower damage do obviously more damage than another gun who’s bar shows more damage.

Game lags very very hard when searching for servers, minor but still irritating.

Note this is all that I can think of at the moment, haven’t played with classes other than medic and engineer. Will probably post more here post leveling another character that is operative & soldier.

  • Not being able to rotate camera in warm-up to look at your teammates
  • Takes too many bullets to send someone in Limbo (like a whole clip)
  • The auto-aim while trying to buff/help teammates is extremely annoying, i prefered the bags a la RTCW

  • MG nest are useless, the spread is way too big and you get insta killed by anyone. I don’t even bother repairing them anymore.

EDIT: Forgot about the turrets, they have very bad tracking, short range and are useless in most situations.

For the love of God, fix the in-game server filters. Yeah, I know how to get to them, but all they are is a box to type in. What am I supposed to type? It’s so unintuitive that it looks like you started to add filter features, then forgot all about them and shipped the game anyway.

PC speaking, of course.

Also, a forfeit option would be handy. When you’re on a team doing terribly with 5 minutes left, it’d be great to be able to bow out with the current xp and give the other team the win instead of wasting time. A vote-forfeit system would be perfect.

Enemy AI is way too good (on all difficulties, but especially on easy, where they have aimbots rivalling Call of Duty: Black Ops), while friendly AI is useless.

They need to be brought back up to ET:QW’s gold standard.

I don’t know man. I just played a public campaign match on Container City for the Resistance and we literally had the 8 computers pinned down in their spawn for the 15 minutes or however long the match was. I’ve seen the computer be godly and I’ve seen the computer be complete garbage - it seems to vary from match to match.

This is on PC, maybe the experience is different on consoles, if that’s what you’re playing on.

The turrets need to be improved soon as they can be. as it stands i run laps around em or just shoot em from right outside range and i really wish theyd get the mg nests buffed.i play engineer alot too so id love to see those 2 tweaked. also the loss of sound on refuel gets annoying. the AI is horrible on both sides so if your trying to complete the campaign just jump into freeplay it counts.
