COMPILE TIME GONE WACK!

(Matt-J) #1

I was wodnering , I know its probably terrible, but should it take an hour and 15mins to compile a map with a “(single test) - light - faster” compile? I dont like htat it takes that long, maybe i am not doing the best compile… i jsut want to be able to see my map with the lights i put in. I will be testing my alpha version in probably a month so i want to make sure i am doing the right compile, becasue time is money!

(Erus Nauction) #2

umm i have a semi large sized map and it takes me like at most 15 mins. do you have a ton of lights?

(Matt-J) #3

umm 363 according to radiant  lol

(Malverik) #4

i compile BSP -meta, takes about 2 mins

(thegnat) #5

BSP - meta does no light compile. Thats why its so fast. 1h and 15min is fast for a light compile, IMO.

Do a region-compile, if you want to see how the lighting comes along in certain places, that doesn’t take ages…

Well, you would have to tell us something about your system in the complexity of the map for anyone to give you useful feedback if that is a reasonable time.

-faster is a low quality compile, and will likely be somewhat darker and higher contrast than a ful quality compile.

Since it is a (single test) command, you need to run BSP -meta and should also run vis or vis -fast before running it.

If you want a comparrison - perform the same BSP method on goldrush then next week when it finishes let us know it it went
