compile fail

(Enigmaticzor) #1

So since I’m creating a map at the moment, I wanted to test it in-game. Now it works fine in GTK Radiant 1.5 , but if I look in-game my newly formed brushes ain’t where they should be.

Any suggestions?

Mind taking a printscreen of both the view in GTKRadiant and the view in ET?

are u sure u do bsp -meta?

(Enigmaticzor) #4

and

@ indyjones:

yes im using bsp -meta

-edit: if you don’t want the full pics here tell me, will just post the links

rofl what the hell are you doing … IRC + Xfire + Ventrilo + MSN
… wouldnt be able to create just one brush xD

(stealth6) #6

lol!

anyway, maybe try deleting the .bsp file then recompiling with the first option BSP -meta?

You have an old bsp inside a pk3 file?

(dwe_flame) #8

i see you use vista ?
are you 100% sure vista will let you create a new bsp ?
vista has this totally awesome future that will allow you not to be able to just make/overwrite/edit files that are in the programfiles dir.
make sure you run as admin
and even try disabling that whole awesome administrator function (yea i know, there is some real sarcasm here about vista)
you can disable that totally useful function by going to configuration and hit in the search bar for UAC and turn that off.
probably it will ask you to reboot because of the tremendous impact this has on your system security (like no difference except it wont complain as much as before)
after that reboot try to compile again and see of it now has more success

I got XP professional:D

just the vista looks

I will try deleting the bsp file, since I ain’t using a pk3 here and just testing with sv_pure 0

-edit- deleting the bsp file and compiling again didn’t do the job, any other suggestions?:<

… are u sure u re running correct et.exe? ie the one that u map in.

delete .bsp, then try to run it again (not compiling). then u will make sure if maybe its somewhere in pk3.

there is a stupid mistake on your side for sure, it happened to me also (turned out i was doing light compile only to old bsp, had diffrent bsp in pk3 or were trying to run the map thru diffrent shortcut). try everything.

I deleted all bsp’s, and i’m running the good ET.exe, didn’t work.

-edit- I apparantly fixed it by either:

  1. Making a new version of the map for it (in this case version 31)
  2. Deleted the brushes (new made) and making them again
