This map is in the very early stages of development with hardly anything in it. I just want to see what it looks like on a server with a friend playing.
if you could then please pm me and i will send you the map file.

I’m not going to compile it for you because compiling a map is where most problems in your map will appear first. Should a problem appear, the guy compiling it would need to send you the error message. After that, you would need to fix it and send it again. Repeat infinitely.
This proves that compiling is closely tied to the mapping process and that it’s far easier to compile it yourself.
The only time you’d want to send a map to someone else is if you want to do a final compile before release but haven’t got a decent PC to build it within a reasonable amount of time. This is only advised if the map has had extensive testing.
If you don’t know how to compile or distribute your map, try to search on the forums. I tried with “map compiling” (Check “search for all terms”) or “pk3 file structure” and got some usable results.
put it in a big box
compile
run server (not dedicated)
your broardband will handle 2 ppl connected
To complie your map, in radiant, go to the menu ‘bsp’
and pick a option.
if you havnt added lights or anything yet, do bsp -meta
If you get a error saying ‘Map leaked’, put your map in a massive (hollow) box, then try again
Post any other errors here and i’ll help you out
(To run your map, open up ET, and in the console do /sv_pure 0 ENTER then /devmap whateveryourmapiscalled
In et i think g_gametype 2 too?
you can but if you just want to test and have a little run around to see things then it isn’t important
Ehr, no.
This is good for a quick, local test. However, I wouldn’t put the map on a server like that.
Since you’d need to fix the map sooner or later, better make sure it’s leak-proof first or players might fall out of your map into that large invisble box.
