Competitve Experience

([LOST]KillerBee) #1

Just got out of competitive match and my only response is what in the actual flip…

Like seriously, I played two competitive matches and both of them we were sweeped in under 5 minutes. Here I thought the matchmaking had some kind of decency.

Both games I was paired with lvl 7, lvl 6, lvl 5, and lvl 8(I’m lvl 10). And just take a random guess of what the level of the opponents I was playing? Each opponent was lvl 15-20. This absolutely makes no sense to me.

The other team all had scores over 10000, while I was top frag with 5000 on my team. This is ridiculous. I can’t even remotely get my “Win 1 Competitive Match” mission complete. That’s why I always abort it because it’s beyond impossible to achieve. At least pair me with people of similar levels, that would work better than whatever is being used now.

Yea, it sucks, luckily I have a lot of friends that play this game and I only play competitive when they are online so my team wouldn’t be full of bafoons running around in spawn.

Not your level, but half the time thankful to have those lowlevels against me, and when I need to win this game for a mission, beeing angered to have the same lowlevel-“noobs” in my team.
Sry for beeing honest.

Yes, starting the actual competative-ladder beeing lvl40+? Just saying probably get your brackets sorted out. Neither it does help playing vs Lvl-5’s nor does it help playing vs. Lvl-20’s-premades.

Tell me about your logic?!

and what exactly proves the Level of a Player except spending some Hours more into the Game?

you can be level 100 and being not that great, you can be level 5 and outaim everybody.

Levels doesn’t mean any shit, get that in your Heads.

LOL. Honestly, if you’re still one of those people who believe level or rank means jack crap, you’re definitely wrong. I understand that some people could play for hours and still be bad and others can play for a day and be amazing but people need to realize that most of the time that only applies to less than 5% of a gaming community.

Most gamers are actually really decent at playing games. It didn’t take me but an hour to fully understand how to play this game and how to be good at it. And the more hours I spend on it, the better I will get and the better my understanding will be. Rank has a lot to do with skill level simply because of the principal that practice makes perfect. Some people also learn faster than others.

Long story short, people who use that as a valid argument really need to get around more because you know good and well that 95% of the people you play with have skill level according to their ranks.

i mean, levels are definately not an indicator of skill, but definately of experience. when I was level 5 or 6, im not sure I had even seen things like kiras space laser, and I think I knew what was going on on maybe 2-3 of the 5 maps. I was mostly playing TDM while I figured that stuff out. It seems like by level 7 or so you have experienced most of what the game has at least once, which is very helpful experience for a 5v5 match

so you expect People with high ranks to know every shit in this crap Game but they do not…

I would wager to say that anyone that is 15+ knows almost every little thing about this game other than maybe jump spots.

(CCP115) #9

I played a comp match very recently with my friend, cos he had a mission that needed to be done for some creds.

Firstly, They have fixed the matchmaking so much better now. Not that good, but it’s definitely better. I was the highest level player, level 10, and the rest were all less than 10. No 20s, and thankfully no 30s.

Secondly, it sucked. TERRIBLY. 3 Bushwackers? Really? Why doesn’t competitive have class limits? It was literally impossible to push out, and it just got infuriating after a while.

(AlphaUT) #10

i dont even touch comp game after i got my gold 5, cuz the majority of the hackers are in there

I can guarantee you that’s not the case.

Even level 50s and 60s don’t know a lot of the things I consider “basic knowledge.”

(Ctrix) #12

I don’t really have problems with the matchmaking. I’m in gold 5 or whatever. Usually it’s 2-3 gold ranks per team and the rest unranked. Games are usually pretty good. Better balanced than most casual matches to be sure.

(Gi.Am) #13

Yeah after the backend fixes to increase search time, I’m having mostly positive experiences, pretty much every compgame I playe I only see players of my rank +/- 1 and unranked.

This however hinges on a healthy playerbase. If you play in a region that has overall less DB players or play outside of peak hours/days (weekend late afternoon early evening is my recomendation) it might be a worse experience.

The only time I play competitive is when I get the stupid mission to play it. Then I go do my punishment and hope that my side has more competent hackers than the other side. Competitive is an absolutely horrible experience due to the amount of hackers with no relief in sight.
