Competitive matches and sportsmanship

(Drac0rion) #1

First of all, how dare you make a mission to WIN a competitive game?

My problem with this is, that not only is the matchmaking extremely poor currently, but more like there is no balancing what so ever, literally.

Of course I’m salty currently, losing my 3rd competitive game in a row and in the last one my team got crushed and horribly spawncamped for the entire duration we were forced to play the attackers role. Once the game was over, we had to find out we were matched up against 5 rank 1 cobalts and our team consisted of 2 silvers and 2 golds and an unranked with the highest rank being gold 5.
How in the world is this even possible?

Not only did they spawncamp with all their might as cobalts crushing some low golds and silvers, but they showed absolutely no respect, they proceeded to justify their spawncamping by blaming us being bad.

What about some sportsmanship? You are already granted pretty much a free win by this balancing system and yet you must make the game extremely unpleasant for those who have to suffer because of the matchmaking system.

So please, DON’T BE A D!CK, show some sportsmanship when your enemies aren’t even able to leave their own spawn.

(also the secondary objective missions are pretty dumb, since you only get credit for a secondary objective if you were the one to finish planting+blowing up/ repairing, if I am correct)

Let me clarify some things since I was one of your opponent

Nope. Just told you you had plenty of mercs to crush the spawncamp.
Example: calling an airstrike on your right side of the spawn, using fragger nade in house.
Moreover you had 2 guys in spawn, just turning around BEFORE we spawnkilled.

We just came out a game where we were spawnraped, but instead of whining and complaining, we just played and tried.

How can you ask for sportsmanship when you instant called us dicks and fuckers?

You or one of your teammate also added :

Have a good day and suck some dicks

I would add it’s shit defusing a C4 on a secondary objective doesn’t count.

Spawn camps can be easily crushed with team synergy (unless you’re playing Terminal 1st objective, lel) but matchmaking is a bit skewed. I think the problem ended up being how many people were placed into gold. To be honest, there should be a LOT more people in Bronze and Silver. The matchmaking could pair you up against all Golds that are the same ‘rank’ as you, and you could get crushed.

What needs to happen is another placement season that is accurate in measuring skill level and places people where they need to be.

Of course, anyone that is Cobalt+ knows the grind it takes, so a reset would piss off a TON of people.

I actually don’t care about the rank. If developpers have a better ranking system and need to reset the rank, they can do it. Unbalanced games are also boring for high ranks.

edit: If atleast the potential better team could always attack first… and I know it should be easy to add in the MM.

Understandable.

Ok, by this I assume you were maybe 3man or a full premade, while I was playing with 4 randoms with most likely none of them being premade.

I mean sure there are plenty of ways to interrupt spawncamping, but there was maybe a few second window for us to act, because once you guys had found a suitable place to camp from, I was being hit by bullets and artillery support AS SOON as the spawnprotection had lifted and while we did have Skyhammers and Fraggers in our team, we were full of random lower ranks, I mean, nobody on my side even agreed to pick an additional engineer so I was stuck with this team as a single engineer.
Also there was a big skill difference between teams, so don’t say it like it’s so easy, because once those abilities go on cooldown, the situation is going to stay the same.

All I agree to here is that yes, I did call you “dicks”, because even when I asked to let us at least spawn, to maybe get some cover, for 2 or 3 times, none of you took any notice of that and proceeded to obliterate us once the spawnprotection was off. The other nasty comments were not by me.

The irony. Immediately following your title, you go on a seven paragraph whine (aka. being a dick and showing bad sportsmanship.)

I know I made this post being really salty and all, but the game is in beta and I would like to bring more attention to what a joke the current matchmaking is, just try to take it as feedback from a salty player on losing side of an awfully balanced competitive game.

-there isn’t an in game option to send feedback(correct me if I’m wrong)
-once I’m in the competitive matchmaking lobby I’m stuck with that team until the game is over, I can’t dodge the game by leaving in the lobby, I will still be registered for the game
-there is no surrender option, if I leave, I’m going to get punished for 3 hours, so I get punished by matchmaking at first and then I get punished for well… getting spawnraped

he admitted it as well:

it’s a beta and most players don’t come to the forums to complain about it, so when the very few posts that do complain about it get overlooked and the issue will not be dealt with as a priority.

It is a great game and can be a lot of fun, for example I think merc balancing is working great, they try to tweak them with nearly every patch when they feel it is needed or at least that’s what it looks to me for as long as I’ve played.
But I really dislike the current matchmaking system, the shuffle system and some of the missions they give us to complete.

And as for this:

Sure I made the post of of frustration of having to end my day with a game like that, but obviously you either don’t understand sportsmanship or you simply didn’t read those seven paragraphs of whining.

Because sportsmanship is about fairness and respect towards your fellow competitors, none of which I experienced as I described it in those seven paragraphs.
I guess you can call me a dick for whining, but all I tried to do with those seven paragraphs was to bring some attention to the behavior I was forced to receive due to an unbalanced matchmaking with none of the opponents showing any sportsmanship whatsoever. Blame me for being unsportsmanlike and not calling a “GG” for that game as I was not good enough to stand against the cobalt rank players camping me in my spawn.

All I want is to get some more attention to this issue, since I assume most of cases like this aren’t brought to attention. That is why I would like to see some sportsmanship in the fellow player and at least give the unlucky team a chance to play to their best instead of forcing them to wait it out while getting spawncamped. “Forfeit” vote option, please.

I refuse to touch competitive until the matchmaking gets fixed.

As it stands, it’s a huge mess. Assuming you can even get into a game, you’re matched with terrible ranked people, against other higher ranks.
