Competitive is garbage?

Matchmaking is ridiculously bad, is it mandatory to play as 5 if you want fair matches? I keep getting stuck with afks/rage quitters/level 5s/super bads/no medics/etc. and occasionally go against some pretty obvious hacking. Is this just a streak of bad luck, or should I quit doing comp?

Comp is toxic, you’ll either run into the problems you mentioned or a blatant cheater. Not worth playing until a new anti-cheat is implemented (which is on its way, but so is Christmas).

Technically playing as 5 would make the matches unfair.

Competitive is a joke right now though, only play it if you hate yourself. Wait for AC to kick in.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I’ve been doing fairly well in normal servers but sometimes the team stacks get out of hand so I thought if I went to competitive I’d get better opponents as well as teammates, maybe improve myself further and get into the comp scene.

Had nothing but a terrible experience start to finish, glad to hear this isn’t just me. Thanks for the advice to just hold off and stick to pubs. Nice to see the forum community is pretty good so far.

P.S. How do I change my avatar? I don’t see it anywhere in profile preferences.

The community for this game is pretty cool, at least on these forums. To change your avatar you need at least 50 rep points and then you’ll see the option in preferences on your profile.

I thought they had fixed the matchmaking. I was wrong. After 15 minutes of queuing (weird word to spell) I finally got matched with 5 golds. My team had none. In fact we were all unranked.

I really want them to make the competitive party matchmaking not force all of the party into the same team, because then you get clannies matchmaking, all of them level 30+

I was lucky in the past time. My last 10-15 comp matches were rly fine. Not one hacker, a week before I spotted them in every second game. The matchmaking failed too, but not very often. I was complaining much in the last days, but now I rly have much fun with this game. The name change hack just disappear, something happened.

Unfortunately the hacking problem has squeezed so many people out of competitive that the player numbers are really low. Couple that with the new missions that force casual players into competitive and it results in some really imbalanced matches due to the skill difference between skilled vets and incompetent noobs.

Best to avoid it I would say, unless you enjoy stress. This game was so much better before it went open beta. Even casual mode is bad, there seems to be a steady flow of really bad low level players, and very few 10+ players, which makes me suspect a lot of casuals are quitting the game after a couple of weeks and being replaced with new players.

Really wish the normal games you get into on quickplay would have some kinda balancing mechanism so you don’t get as many lopsided teams, since comp isn’t really fun as-is.

I think people should be able to queue up with their friends and all play on the same team. There is a reason it’s called competitive. This is where the meta (is supposed to) be. What they really need is to fix matchmaking so that parties go against parties and level 30s go against 30s.

I personally do not quite understand whats the point of playing competitive. It takes forever to get a match up and running. Are there any statistics available? why not make all matches “competitive”.

Competitive is suppose to be a game with only experience players, BUT because it is set at level 5, all noobs play it, and hacking to level 5 takes about 5-10 minutes…
