Community servers and lobby times

This is just a general topic for anyone with a community server,
I’ve noticed a few community servers with significantly reduced lobby times. Please keep in mind, DB isn’t a stable game for everyone. I’ve had loading screens take significantly longer than they should every now and then, and I know I’m not the only one. Allowing for only a few seconds to vote for a map basically means those people won’t be able to vote at all.

It’s also worth noting that merc selection time is long for a reason, so people can pick the best team for a map. I’ve been in servers that barely give you enough time to change one merc, let alone properly consider 3.

Point being, yeah long wait times can suck ass, but please consider that reducing those times significantly will reduce your server’s attractiveness for people who suffer these issues and enjoy changing up their loadouts.
At the very least, give people a better pee break lol

buy a PC :slight_smile: or at least someting similar… plaing DB on some WW2 hardware is no fun atall

It aint me complaining, I have tonnes of servers to choose from. It’s just a reminder that your community server may not work well for some people, so if you want it to be used as much as possible, low lobby times aren’t the best option

some (my also) servers have this low wait time as we want to play the game not wait our ass off

yep… them screens are taking quite some time to do their schit…

even weapon switching, reloading and skill deployment on any merc seems very sluggish.

Why have a lobby at all then

Just implement a map rotation that never returns to the lobby my dude

Everyone would need to quit and rejoin to change mercs on new maps

I suppose it also increases the server attractiveness for people who prefer to play without potato teammates. Ultimately, it’s the server admin’s choice as he pays for the server. If at one point the server settings result in too few people joining the server then the admin probably wants to reconsider.

I’d rather SD optimizes the sluggish interface to choose mercs instead of admins increasing the wait time.

You’re presuming the server host wants people to change mercs. The original complaint is the time between rounds is already too short to give enough time to change mercs. If you’re going to make the timer be so short that people can’t change mercs, then simply run through maps without giving them the option to.

Yet.

Consider this the official thread for requesting that server hosts should be able to completely exclude merc selection after joining a server and implement a map rotation.

Honestly I wouldn’t really mind that. I can imagine someone trying to line all the maps up in the order that they take place and basically doing a DB story marathon

We did ask for W:ET style campaigns in the very beginning where XP, kills etc carried over, 3 map campaigns would’ve been fun.

I wasn’t thinking that, I was thinking TF2 style where the host decides what maps are available, then has a fixed rotation through them. Teams would be changed between rounds and all stats would reset.

Yes I was replying to starry regarding his story idea which is akin to WET campaigns. Your idea is just a bog standard map rotation from any late 90’s, early naughties mp FPS, I’d be fine with that too.
