I was under the impression that comms hack disables combat intuition because everyone shows up on your radar, but I was just playing a game where I comms hacked someone and right as I finished, the combat intuition indicator popped up. This happened twice that match. Were those instances just flukes?
Comms Hack disables Combat Int.?
I’ve noticed this fairly often too, and I think it’s only been immediately after I’ve completed a comms hack, same as you describe. My guess has been that it’s due to latency between you and the server, but I really don’t know.
I was playing offline with bots, so i guess there must be some sort of time lag between finishing the hack and everyone showing on the radar.
Alright, I just played on my server a bit specifically looking for this. My CI was going off well after I completed a comms hack (several seconds or more) for enemies clearly on my radar and even in my field of view. I tried some more with the bots paused and I think I have the answer now (most of it, anyway).
Enemies revealed by a Comms Hack are treated as “off your radar” as far as Combat Intuition is concerned.
I’m not completely sure yet if enemies already on your radar before the hack are treated as usual, but even if they are I’d assume that after 5 seconds (normal time when enemies fade from radar if not continued to be seen or heard) they would then go “off the radar” for the rest of the hack. I also need to find out if this is the case for all the teammates who did not actually perform the comms hack.
I don’t think this is new since the last patch either. I’ve always kind of suspected something like this was happening, but there’s usually way too much going on during normal gameplay to pay close attention, and when I see enemies visually or on radar, I tend to do things to prevent them from getting crosshairs on me ;). Also, if there had been a change like this, I’m sure it would’ve been mentioned in patch notes.
Another bit of info: Comms Hacks last 30 seconds. I’ve never bothered to time it before.

That is a bug or the in-game description for Combat Intuition is flawed.

Or maybe finally Splash Damage has done something about it ? It was ridiculous that an Operative going an extra mile to help his team was just harming (some) of them.
If it’s a deliberate change by Splash Damage, I approve of it.

That would be really good find if true
I hope it is that way.

The description for the engineer’s kevlar ability is flawed. It says you can’t give kevlar to soldiers with the extra kevlar ability, but you can. So I wouldn’t be surprised if the combat intuition description is flawed as well.

I completely agree.
It would be nice if Splash Damage made changes to the descriptions of the Abilities as they tweak the functionality. Or if they maintained a site that hosted an up-to-date game guide like Blizzard’s Arreat Summit.

Lately I was paying attention for CI after doing CH. And it works as HugePinball described in post #4 - which is great.
