Hey guys !

So i’v stop playing Xt in the last 3-4 month, mostly due to acces to wildstar beta, and because i wana play other shooter for comparaison. I have to admit, since the old quake gods give me a rocket luncher on a PQL ruleset server i haven’t play other shooter more as 30 min. But i’m back now and this is my ‘first’ comeback impresion after 3-4 hours of play.

1 - UI and performence

First thing : nexon luncher. It’s very slow, still no freind list, it just eat my ‘bande passante’ and i don’t understand why it take ages for lunch the game ! The limbo feel so better, more polish, more clear. The merc selection screen is nice and clear, but i think split the merc based on their class can be nice. The loby screen is nice, we cans choose our squad in this, we see allies merc so place for strategie and teamwork ! The game UI is simple, clear and efficient, but i would like see some scale adjustement.
I remember playing at 20-30 fps before when now i’m around 40-50, not perfect but mutch better. I got no sipke, warping or ping issue for the time i’ve play.

2 - Gameplay

First trouth : the game feel weird. I don’t know if it’s the mouvement system or the speed but there is something who feel sooo weird. I had a realy hard time in the first hour of play, something who not happend when i back in other games (quake live cs:go w:et UT2004). It seems the mouvement system have been improved, that better of what i remember. But IMO there is still a lot of work to do on this point for got a good fluidity. Before i stop i remember a bad gunplay : obvious spread, ridiculously small hitbox, gigantic recoil. Actualy I ENJOY THE GUNPLAY, I hit what i aim for, the spread raisonable the recoil is a little to hight for my taste but nothing gamebreaker.

3 - Mercs

I haven’t try all the merc but i can give my trouth on the few i have test.

Showbonez : Still a so great merdic, look like his smg have less spread and more dmg as i remember, that’s great !
Bushwatcher : new smg, verry efficient. Seems like the turret detection have been reduce but it’s still very effectiv if well placed.
Nader : the nadluncher as a ability is awsome ! now nader as a chance in a mid/long range duel. Maybe the nades regen is a little to high.
Rhino : First time i’v play this char. He seems a little OP : unlimited amo on a very powerfull weapon. But he is slow, very slow.
Sparks : The revive gun is fun, hudge damage and long range revive. The healthpack are not effectiv enough for play this char as a solo medic.

I have been nicely surprized by the direction the game is taking. I’v read u gona work on the mouvement system and that’s realy a great news !

Soooooooo… I came back testing extraction with my newbish friend champixx. I’ve tried it for 3 day and I can’t resist to give some feedback even if a lot of what I have to say has already been said (by me and others).

1- UI and Performance :

Nexon launcher still sux as champixx explained no need to go further. I feel like I have a lot of fps drops sometimes in game or some lag spikes but it’ll surely be improved so I am not really concerned by that.
The new UI, lobby system etc are great improvements, I now have the feeling I am playing a game not a prototype. Still I am missing the possibility to switch teams in the lobby but I guess it’s coming so I am not too worried again.

2- Mercs and balance :

I think the game improved a lot in the last few updates. Merc are nicely balanced between each others, sure their is still a lot of adjustements to do but the general feeling of balance feel great in my opinion.
Phantom is a pain in the ass tho, I like the fact that he can actually be usefull but I feel it’s a bit too much. Sometimes I am checking all around me when I know their is phantom around and I can’t manage to find him ever. However nerfing him may make him useless so I don’t know.

3- Gameplay

THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART :

The movement is improving, that’s great, I like the wall jump and I am looking forward to the long jump and more… I can see this game becoming interesting movement wise without strafe (which you obviously don’t want to add) so that’s great. Keep the improvements coming.

Now regarding shooting… FIX YOUR GUNPLAY PLEASE §§§§!!§§!!§§!§!§§!§!!!§§!!§!§!

I am having hope again for this game but cmon… the gunplay does not feel right at all. I think the most horrible thing is the spread increase when you start a fight while you where sprinting. I mean seriously why don’t get rid of that ? why force players to go slow as hell when they are approaching the fight zone that doesn’t fit a fast paced FPS.
You can’t sprint while fighting so the movements in fights are actually very slow. I think increasing movement speed a bit could do a lot of good to have more dynamic fights.
Last but not least, the hit registration feels terrible. I consider myself as a pretty good aimer and I am usually at the top of the scoreboard (which does not really reflect the damage you do but still…) so I think what I say is worth listening.
Sometimes I aim at the head of a player moving and I instantly record 4 HS as it should be, that’s great. But sometimes I am aiming at a player NOT moving in his head or body and I can empty a magazine whithout actually hitting him. That’s insane how sometimes you aim greatly but don’t hit ****.

So sure the spread has something to do with it and I still hope you’ll decrease it to the point where Iron sight will just give a slight slight advantage (iron sight could also be removed straightly but that’s not happening). But I don’t think spread is the only reason cause sometimes it’s too insane how it doesn’t hit, I don’t know, maybe it’s the netcode or something but I can’t tell.
I think a lot of players are frustrated with this issue, me the first, so please try to fix it as soon as possible.

I remember that you told us that a big update regarding spread was coming. Is it still happening? When can we expect to see it ?

That being said, great job overall with the last updates everything else has improved a lot.

This! Totally agree I can 4 dink a AFK player and then when he re-spawns fart and not get a single hit following the same action. Sorry for the analogy but something little seems to throw off my gun like crazy. Mid-Short and Mid Ranges I dont think I have instakilled that many people with 3 to 5 hs’s. If my aim is there with that gun and not fall off Damage I should.

The question is should I be standing still (Fat Chance)

Should I be Crouched?

Could I have sprinted and then crouched?

Iron-Sights? (Hard to do with out add-on) (Hate Iron-Sights)

Can you Crouch and move while crouched and still have good aim?

Sprint, Jump to Crouch to sprint? Are you going to be at full spread for this combo move?

Jumping onto an object and insta-firing Whats the spread?

Something feels off I cant duplicate my aim and I hate standing still!

The high spread was mentioned for over one year now. Can we finally stop with the workarounds aka ‘bigger hitboxes’ and start to address the actual source of the problem?

Personally I would prefer the old hitbox size with lower spread, so good aim can finally pay off.

Yesterday I met a completely new player on the server and had a talk with him. Guess what he complained about first? The spread.

I forgot to mention that maps are WAY better now than in the past. I like most of the changes that happened but I am still missing the whitechapel doc run ;-(

Maps are also really short in time and objectives (usually 2 objectives to finish the map) and this is not a bad thing in my opinion, though I would also like to see some longer maps (ex: camden in the past).

Your CFG looks crisp and clean! Is it fast, smooth and easy to track aswell? Can you post it anywhere?
