Color blind gamers - have you tried EnChroma glasses?

I saw that someone asked in a recent stream about getting a support mode for color blind gamers, and it reminded me of the new glasses available to help color blind people see colors the way the rest of us do:

That was me, and those glasses are $350 starting price, and they don’t even work for everyone - so it’s kind of a risk buying them.

@Faraleth, If it helps I can run in front of turrets and jump on top of mines for you! I’m not joking, if it makes the game a better experience for you I’ll do it, I play tank classes anyway… it’s my job.

@JesseKomm Hahaha, oh you… xD but yeah, I often make the mistake of shooting my own team’s turret’s from behind, only to eventually realise they are my team (imagine how annoyed they used to get when Spark’s REVIVR was bugged and could actually destroy friendly deployables)… Or, I’ll run infront of one thinking a friendly Bushwhacker placed it, only to be gunned down in a matter of seconds.

I also have a habit of running up to an Aura station for heals, only to realise it’s an enemy one… Q-Q that one’s really annoying. :c I just wanna play the game properly without looking like a total freakin’ noob! XD lmao

Real talk though, I really want a color blind mode, too. I feel you, @Faraleth. I have some issues with seeing color, though it’s not severe. But even without that, tracking people on Trainyard when the enemies are orange and the lighting is orange is a fucking nightmare.

@Mercy Yeah, sometimes it gets to the point where I can barely tell who’s on my team XD I gotta try and remember people’s names and stuff - as well as keeping an eye out for: Does their name-tag (above their head) disappear when I’m not looking at them? If so, they are an enemy… etc, just things like that, and it’s a little difficult to keep track of in such a fast paced game. Q-Q

But yeah, any sort of deployables (ie. turrets, proxy mines, aura units, sticky bombs, etc.) I can NEVER tell who they belong to xD …a new one is running towards a charging Phoenix for health, only for the fucker to turn around and start shooting me.

So, Splash Damage, please. Colourblind mode. >.<

Faraleth, start a page on IndieGoGo to request the cash for the glasses, and if you meet the goal say that you’ll have someone record your reaction to putting them on the first time and post it up for your supporters to see (maybe playing Dirty Bomb?) If they don’t work you can give them to another person who they might work for. They have 2 types, one for outdoors, and one for indoors reading books and paintings and such … I don’t know which you’d want for looking into an illuminated monitor.

@Cinemator Wanna know the ironic thing? I’m a student game developer, which includes graphic design… I’ve been wanting a pair for a long time (they almost didn’t let me on my course at Uni because of my colourblindness - thankfully I eventually convinced them in my interview that I’d be good for the course).

I’m not sure I would feel right asking people for money though, for something so expensive. I’d feel selfish… :s It’s a nice suggestion though. I think I would definitely record my reaction to them though if I ever got a pair… XD I’ve seen the indoor/computer screen lenses too, I would definitely get those.

I guess I can always dream… lmao! <3

They do have a 30 day return policy. They will also make prescription lenses. I’m definitely looking into getting a set for myself at this point - not only would it make gaming easier for me (since most developers don’t implement color blind options), but I’d like to walk outside, look at the garden, and actually see red flowers on green plants.
