I think anything physical would be really awesome… But I’m definitely leanin towards a mask of some sort for sure, and perhaps a bonus disc with a behind the scene’s look… And why not have maybe an extra in game costume for showing your support and dedication for spending that extra few dollars.
Collectors Edition
How about some wallets? You could have a Security themed one that’s all official and in their uniform style. And then a rebel one made of rubber or something.
I was thinking of the tire based body armour (quick googled example) they use but I suppose anything sufficiently homebrew and stylish would be neat.
Mask mask mask!! http://brink.chefenco.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/9/files/brink-archetypes/brink-character-resistance-anger.jpg (for example)
I am all for physical, tangible extras for the Special Edition/Limited Edition like art books, comics, t-shirts, key-chains, fridge magnets, car window decals, figurines etc…
If it is digital content in any form, I am not interested in it.
Note: things like Avatar goodies for the 360 version, that stuff should come as unlockables for various in game achievements or something. Regardless of whether it could make money or not, that kind of stuff should be free and available to everyone who has the game. Establish some goodwill with the customers. On the other hand, as a console gamer, I fully expect, and an willing, to pay for “map packs”, though I have no interest in paying for anything digital that is of less substance than that (e.g., weapons etc).
Considering how customisable characters are, it would be pretty hard to produce meaningful mechandise that depict them characters, unless you made some standard figures and you could get ‘clothes’ for it based on what you can unlock in game.
Some cracking stuff have been released in past couple of years for zelda and metroid from first 4 figures, ( My fave figure http://www.battle-of-wolken.co.uk/pics/skullkid.jpg ) would have been well ace to have had some ET:QW figures made, maybe just one scene with each class from each team squaring each other up.
I think it would be very expensive to have people able to order their very own customisable figurine. Since there are so many options. Also, I wouldn’t have a clue on what to do with it tho :P.
I rather have a piece of clothing, steelcase box or anything that is nice and serves a purpose.
(Well you know
as far as purpose goes for gaming gadgets.)
Come to think of it!
I want Brink wristbands!
PS: Or a Brink mousepad. (And I don’t mean ****ty quality)
Actually a good fullsize gaming mousepad with Brink graphics with a scene similar to the trailer on it would be awesome!
Problem with a mousepad is the console releases. I’d guess they’d want similar stuff to get a bigger price cut. I wouldn’t object to it on any other basis though. Again, something with two different styles on each side to represent the sides of the conflict would be neat.
I’d prefer something I could use on a daily basis which is why I like the idea of wallet, keyring, usb drive/reader. You can whip it out and have something you can’t buy in the shops (of course it’d have to be something worth whipping out, nobody wants to be laughed at).
BTW - I’d want SD or Brink branded stuff. Please keep Bethesda’s name to a minimum on any fashionable merchandise.
Most of all, I’d love to have a version I can play without installing steam. If it only comes with the collectors edition, fine by me.
Hereis an example, from a different industry (the movie industry), of excellent SE/LE packaging.
oohhhh oohhhh, free airline tickets and special access into the Splash Damage studios. I mean, this would probably be the first collector’s edition to do it, if they did it.
Not only do I hope for something like that with Brink but I’d also wonder why SD hasn’t launched it’s own branded merchandise. The only reason I don’t have that Boomer plushy is that I’m waiting for the set and a discount.
