Coder need for action MOD

Hi since my coder had been offline for a long time cause he is moving.
I’m in need for another coder.

There are not a lot over major things that needs to be done, but now I’m doing it myself knowing nothing about c++ and have to count on the help I get from this great forum.

List of things that needs to be done

-lasertripbomb (replace mines, kinda like a mine but on walls)
How tripbomb will act/react:
-Only placeable on horizontal (or maybe vertical) parts of the map (wall and floors)
-will emit “laserbeam” (maybe laserbeam should only be visible with binocs) if laser beam is crossed by ANY player tripbomb will explode
-explosion tripbomb will be only at the position of the tripbomb it self
(so if tripbomb is place incorrect and enemy will cross the laser far away from the tripbomb he will not get hurt)
-Tripbomb explosion will be about the same as a panzerfaust
-Tripbomb can only be destoyed by an explosion (grenade, panzer or other tripbombs)

-Devastator (replace the mortar)
How devastator will act
-This will be kinda like a dual mini panzerfaust/rpg but it will fire small missle rapidly. (with spread and warmup time)
-small explosion of each missle (half the size of a grenade)
-(need to look at reload, missle amount etc)

-quickchat menu different per side (maybe even per class)

-night vision with binocs

Those are the bigest things that needs to be done.
Some other small things like splitting up sounds per teams etc etc.

Anybody kind enough to help me??
I’m not in a very big rush, so you can work on your own speed.

Have you accidentally borowed some of these ideas from Duke3D? :smiley:

Whilst I’ve got some ideas on how to realize a tripmine, I’m sorry that I have got not enough time to start coding for a mod on my own.

Tripmine is in another mod realwar by some french guys.
Maybe you can ask them for the code.

Where can you find those tripwires in the mod?
I’ve tried out most weapons but couldn’t find those… :confused:

Well I’m about to release the Beta version of the mod soon, so these features will be in the beta2 version probably (if I find a coder)
Kamikazee is not far off. (not far at all :wink:

But beta release is at the end of the month, try and keep it a bit quite =P

Still need a coder for the stuff though.

tripmines ->re enable commented tripmine code in ET , laser can be done with RF_BEAM or something similar , or with railtrail as debuging lines
devastator->copy panzerfaust code to mortar, and then copy there some akimbo code too, at last change spawned missile damage and so
night vision -> take a look at RTCW, you may download Leon’s thermal scope but you NEED to change code for it , there is refdef flag ( something like RDF_SNOOPER_VIEW or like that , take a look at RTCW’s cg_view.c )

take in mind that if you will get this working by yourselfs you will certainly remmember some things, you can try it until you are a decent modder
anyway all what you are requesting is really not anything hard for experienced coder, and i think i would be able to do it perfectly in two hours
but i have no idea how much broken tripmine in ET is… but even if it is not working it is fast job, just think -> do a trace -> think -> do a trace and explode if somethings touch the trace, you can use thicker trace if you really need

Haven’t run the mod because I think it won’t work under a V 2.6 installation.

Tripmine placement code is quite broken, I had to recode it to get it working. Aside from that it works great.
It can be irritating if you accidently plant one on a slant or right in front of a tree :banghead:

Yeah, So I found that out just now, I enabled all the code for the tripmine, but doesn’t seem to do anything. =(
But then again I’m no coder and I know sh!t about it.

This probably won’t make it into the beta release ^^
