Cobalt cards

(coralLip) #1

So I was just wondering if cobalt cards can confuse the enemy into thinking you are on their team for like half a second because I was playing with my cobalt sky hammer and was standing in the middle of a bunch of enemies and they weren’t shooting me. Maybe they just suck idk lol

(KUST__LunarTM) #2

@coralLip It’ll work for a short while against average players, but you won’t fool the pros.

The second I see a red tint im shooting

(Mr-Penguin) #4

Or a health bar.

(Lord.Eblis) #5

I shoot everything that moves  What’s the deal with Cobalt? Do they give a skin that resembles foes ones?

(Nibbles02) #6

One of the cobalt skins is blue so it makes you look like an ally.

(Chilled Sanity) #7

Well Fragment cobalts are white for enemies (BLM triggered) so they probably confused you for a containment wall for a second (assuming it was fragment). And if it was Shard they just suck lmao.

(Your worst knifemare.) #8

Not that hard to sepeate friendly from enemy, unless there are Phantoms of both sides and one is invisable in the far distance.

(Jostabeere) #9

I see why people might take a Blue enemy for a teammate. But it never happened to me. And I#m only Average.
I secretly wanna be like @Amerika
It might happen sometimes with the shard skin (not fragment). Usually against new players but occasionally you can sneak by a better player if you manage to get in the side of their screen from behind while they are doing something else. But they will quickly realize you are an enemy after you shoot or get closer to their crosshair.

Just don’t rely on that, don’t try to act like you are on the enemy team. Just play normal

(Teflon Love) #11

Pah cobalt shmobalt! Real men play the Humble Bundle loadouts - which look grayish red to your team mates - with friendly fire enabled. It’s you against the world and they are all out to get you!

(MilkyBear) #12

Pro tip: You shoot anything that move.

(Chilled Sanity) #13

Actually yeah shooting everything that moves is the best tactic if you think about it, just one tap to the leg and if it doesnt scream at you saying “WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU SHOOTING AT ME” you just waste that mans/womans/proxys face

Yeah the shard cobalt can be confusing some times. I’ve seen even top level players get confused at times and not shoot one thinking they’re friendly.

(Terminal_6) #17

More often I’ll shoot a friendly cobalt thinking they’re an enemy, especially if there’s an enemy cobalt of the same merc. Otherwise, I’ve never had an issue differentiating enemy cobalts.

This is off-topic, but there’s actually a bug right now that makes the enemy appear as friendly. I’ve only experienced it once and maybe it was just a fluke.

I swapped teams in a 7v5 to even them out and I believe @SnakekillerX was using a Bronze Sawbonez and he definitely appeared as friendly. No red tint or red anything- completely blue/friendly outfit. However, it was just him and no one else on the enemy team. I should have taken screenshots or recorded it and reported it, but I just wasn’t really thinking about it. The only thing that gave him away was the lack of a friendly name above him (but no red enemy name from what I remember).

It was just an annoying visual bug. Had problems with it because my enemy team would crowd around me so it made it look like a friendly name was above his head! Just thought I’d mention this for fun. Even if he was using a Cobalt, it still wouldn’t make any sense and I’m guessing this was just like a one-time thing. :#

Or maybe I’m just crazy… Yeaaaahhhh… That’s probably it.

I remember you mentioning it that game… lol
I could see that being extremely annoying, that’s even worse than Cobalt skins making enemies look like team mates, and I hate it when that happens.

While everyone says Cobalts don’t give an advantage, I’d have to disagree as the current colour scheme makes you think the enemy is actually a friendly at times, and makes you do a double take… which often gets you killed.

Why can’t they just change the way the skin looks for enemies? Friendlies should never have RED, and enemies should never have BLUE. It should at very least be an option/setting we can toggle.
