Co-op?

(wolfleader101) #1

I was wondering if they could make a co-op so that you can play with your friends, but not like a private match where you need 6 people, it could be like 1v1 or you could play with more friends but with bots aswell, so you can play against bots and practice or maybe even being able to just play against bots to improve your skills, if they could make this, it would be great as i want to teach my friend!

I agree your opinion. i play gamm almost evrey day with my friend. but some times, i can’t join in my friend’s sever. you give psychological splash damage to us. pls help us.

No current plans to implement any kind of bots into the game I am afraid, so PvE (friends vs. bots) will likely never happen… :s

In regards to “improving your skills”, in the future the tutorial will be revamped and they are definitely considering some kind to training arena where you can test out mercs weapons and abilities, however this is not confirmed at this time.

Devs always listen to player’s requests though, so if you want something, ask for it ^.^ Bots are not on the road-map though :frowning:

I have a very basic understanding of what it takes to make a game but as far as I can understand, creating a realistic AI isn’t something one can do in a weekend. Being able to play and become better without draging better teammates down might sound like a nice idea but it probably will not happen, especially since the game is based around teamplay.

@Minothilos Correct - I mean, the devs could have AI navigating the map in less than a few hours, that part is pretty easy in Unreal Engine 3, but it’s programming the AI to play like a human that will be the toughest part. You have to implement the actual game mechanics into the AI so that it understands how to play them, and it can get very tricky, very fast. So there’s more than likely never gonna be bots >.<

Most human players I meet on public servers seem to still struggle with that

Hi thanks for telling me, i was wondering if you could look at the post before that as it needs approval from a moderator or something like tht, thnx!

FYI THIS^ IS OFF TOPIC OF BOTS!

@kibloy You know what… you got a good point. >_>

They do it on tf2 and call of duty, and i am sure some other games can do it so why not dirty bomb, is it different coding?

Well, in theory they CAN do it on Dirty Bomb no problem, but the resources spent on that would be much better spent else-where on more content for the PvP stuff. TF2 only did it much later down the line (about 5-6 years after release, possibly more), once they were raking in the millions and had the disposable resources to actually implement such a feature, and I don’t think I have to comment on how basic and embarrassing the CoD AI is, haha…

Dirty Bomb is still in beta and relatively new in the grand scheme of things. Like I said, I wouldn’t rule it out 100%, but it’s certainly not a planned feature any time soon.

Improving skills works best against real people. You can’t kill bots with an AI for weeks and then being the hero in PvP.
The closest thing to Bot-modus imo: Create new steam accounts, get the free Alienware/Logitech cases and go play in Max-Level-5 games. And quitting just before they end so you don’t get EXP. At some point you will just dump on the newcomers and can switch to the main account. Not funny, not satisfying, but it works, if you really wanna to.

Haha you are right call of duty AI is stupid and tf2 bots can be stupid aswell, maybe they should just make private matches as manh friends as you want not a minimum of 6 (dont have that many friends who have dirty bomb, most of my friends have mac) so maybe i could do a 1v1 or 2v2, etc and even 1v2 ( lol i hulk smash my friends they are newbies).

(neverplayseriou) #13

Cod bots are the most trashy bots in probably any game, or they just aim for ages or you put them on a higher lvl and they get aimbot…

Well that’s bots, but have they said no to Horde mode/ Defense/ any generic coop game mode?

It’s not hard programming melee cannon fodder right? Just be making new maps and smarter enemies.

(Runeforce) #15

Not directly, but they have stated multiple times that their intentions are to make a hardcore multiplayer shooter.
