Clothing Options

(Megafan) #1

I’ve got a few gripes with clothing customization I’d like to share on here, but I’ll divide it up into relevant sections.

The Resistance/Ark Security - Hair & Head Gear
For the most part this is fine, but why exactly are hair and head gear the same section? Sure you can wear face gear with head gear, but if you were to wear a cap or beret, you are forced to be bald. Why? It begs an explanation. I wouldn’t mind this so much if it was due to some actual limitation, but I can only assume it was deliberate, otherwise why would SD include a cap variant that comes with hair?

The Resistance - Jackets
Mostly fine as well, although I don’t see why you couldn’t wear ‘The Voice’ jacket with the ‘The Lost’ jacket or the ‘The Voice’ jacket with ‘The Straps’.

Ark Security - Jackets
Fine, no real issues.

The Resistance - Shirts
This is by far the worst flub of all the customizable options. For one, why is the color or design unchangeable? Even the ‘Tattered Vest’ has letters on it that you can’t change, and the ‘Wired Shirt’ is bright orange. The ‘Long-Sleeved Shirt’ is just embarrassing to wear, and makes me question why every shirt in the game is skin tight for some reason.

Ark Security - Shirts
Better options than The Resistance, but why ‘The Eel’ shirt isn’t customizable, I can’t understand.

The Resistance/Ark Security - Pants
Better than the other options although the short pants for The Resistance look a bit off.

Overall, the main poor aspect is the shirts, but the no hair allowed with the head gear also makes no sense. There seems to be no identifiable reason for these limitations, and the awful choice of shirts makes my Resistance character look awful. Can anyone explain this?

it’s a FPS, not the Sims

Saying that about a game with customisation as one of its major selling points is foolish.

(Megafan) #4

This is true, lest ye forget that they touted the enormous number of unique character possibilities.

Don’t expect much more from Nail. I’ve not seen him constructively contribute to a thread the entire time I’ve been here.

Its seems odd imposing seemingly arbitrary limitations to the customisation options in a game that focuses on customisation.

Especially this. A lot of the Resistance Jacket options aren’t in good shape, understandably, but if you wear ‘The Lost’ or ‘The Fortress’ or ‘The Wasted’, you would want a decent shirt under those, but there are hardly any to choose from, and you can’t pick the color. It’s just not very good.

Ya I was just getting up today thinking about which pair of shoes I was going to wear and then plan the rest of my outfit around that. I had decided on the opened toe sandals with cargo shorts and a tank top. Then I realized how my running shoes were more functional that the sandals and I went some under armour shorts and tshirt.

Do you really care? That’s what I thought. All that you care about is that when you see me in public that I’ve followed the standard and I have clothes on.

So let’s worry about the game getting up to playable/acceptable standards before worrying about frills and making fashion statements.

This is a forum for discussing all aspects of the game.

The OP didn’t suggest this should be priority, just an area that could be improved upon.

I think there are PLENTY of threads covering any and ALL problems that people have with the game. including crap 99.98% would never even want. I’m FAIRLY sure SD knows by now. No one is even suggesting htat any of this NEEDS to be fixed at the time. Is it really that bad for these people to attempt to discuss something different?

(Darksider) #10

Honestly I want stuff pertaining to game play to be improved or added, last thing I am concerned about is the clothes my character is wearing at the moment.

For one a DEMO RECORDER is needed for COMP, and as well I would like to see some tweaks added to various things in game. I am just slightly worried that none of this will happen and the game will fade away fast…

(riptide) #11

Yep because any distraction from actual fixes will result in an even smaller player base. Hey at least Brink is competing with Condition Zero.

I feel like…everybody has a lot of gripes about everything concerning the game, and people really need to get the hell over it, because a lot of these issues are empirically not that important.

I don’t like the idea that SD needs to be protected from every issue, but honestly, it seems to me, to be like a Katamari ball. Once there’s a rock big enough to start rolling, it inevitably picks up every little piece of crap it comes by. Really ridiculous.

The whole point of this forum is to discuss the game, for better or worse. Saying that people just need to get over it isn’t going to help or solve anything. The flaws in customization are at least relevant because the game was touted as having incredibly customizable characters. If something sticks out as a flaw, people are going to talk about it.

I’m not going to go into this in another thread for the 3rd time, but I do agree with the concept of this thread.

Even if it’s not the extent of APB or even close, I would have figured mixing and matching more items, like straps with shirts, etc would have at least been the baseline.

Ok so I did it one more time but it was concise this time around.
