the concern is that Proxy’s speed and fast plant/defuse etc. will make here obligatory in comp play, because the other engies are not good by comparison.

I played last beta almost solely a Fragger, and killing Proxy wasn’t an issue. Only nuisance was that little bitch can drop mines without stopping. :stuck_out_tongue:

Got some feedback from other players:

Could really notice the difference in the game from a year ago.
Didnt like merc selection and how each team had 3 auras or 3 proxey. Draft might fix this or something.
Didnt like it took more then 3 HS on people and the inconsistency of killing.

You have mentioned it before but I don’t think I ever quite got what is the gripe with killing consistency.

You point your gun at someone’s head - they die. You don’t: they live.

Sure there is inconsistency, no surprise with plenty of different guns, 80-200hp variation, healing, etc. etc.

In my view this game will never be about intense 1on1s between equally equipped opponents. It just does not fit in the playstyle. DB really took the W:ET design of good aim + teamplay on much more balanced scales. Back in ET days good aim was 70-90% of your skill in comp, if you could rotfl-stomp 2 enemies consistently, you would get accepted to most clans, and just follow the pack.

ETQW approached it by balancing the game around vehicles&deployables - suddenly good aim was not enough anymore, you also needed a valid strat to take out a tank, APC and a bunch of players all at once, before the defense would lock you down again.

DB brought back the importance of aim from RTCW & W:ET but pushed the teamplay factor a lot more. Sure, its not CS:GO type of teamplay, where you setup for 20seconds and make a push. You had plenty of that in W:ET as well (well, no one waiting for 20seconds, but setup was key)

Here teamplay is about the second-by-second decision-making of where do you stand, who do you shoot at, where are you going to jump next, and which teammates needs ammo/hp the most. Think of it combat-teamplay more so than strat-teamplay.

I simply don’t see how just because one time you get triple HS opening, and another you can’t hit 20bullets in a row, the game is unsatisfying. You go with your team, you setup crossfires, you have decent aim, use the abilities effectively, you will take on anybody.

Could you open up this to me bit more? Like with what weapons you’re talking about?
I personally noticed that some weapons, notably SMGs felt losing their power quickly against opponents even bit further away and you had to caution Skyhammers or Fraggers from coming up close, but I found that everything being something expected.

I still think the recoil on heavy weapons can be pushed much further. An SMG is very easy to track with as to be expected, and the MG shouldn’t be nearly the same easy experience. The HP makes them solid pushers, but there’s no reason the weaponry can’t be more reasonably balanced. If someone can’t handle recoil, there’s always loadout cards with rifles.

I think the shooting and TTK felt much better in comparison to the last patch. Have there been any changes on this end?

most of the guns have less dmg, plus some kind of speed up of all chars (less long jump or double long/wall jump penalty)
TTK felt better on my side too.

as for more recoil - i am not sure about this:
more recoil = more recoil compensator (software/hardware) abusers(i.e. cheaters) on public AND in competition

game can’t be balanced around trying to avoid cheaters. Whether its wallhack, aimbot, nade-view or recoil compensator, any cheat will spoil the game. Just find&ban
