I don’t have anything specific to this update, just a compilation over the past few updates and beyond.

4 fairly annoying things:

  1. Not allowing the player to do anything but bash people in the face while carrying a canister
  2. Not allowing the player to move around while planting explosives
  3. Not allowing the player to skip cut-scenes
  4. Not allowing the player to chose from more than 3 mercs (let me guess, more will be purchasable later? =/)

There is too much down time between rounds.

  • Post round review: 30 seconds
  • Waiting for server to start next round: 10-20 seconds
  • Pre-game lobby: 30 seconds
  • Warm-up: 20 seconds
  • Post Warm-up objective overview: 20 seconds

Total: Approx. 2 minutes of down time between rounds

I understand you want to allow the player to go through their mercs and select the proper ones, but this should be done in their own time. I think the wait time could be cut in half, maybe something like this:

  • Post round review: 20 seconds
  • Waiting for server: 10-20 seconds
  • Warm-up : 20 seconds

Just allow for access to change load-outs during the post round and warm-up and force lock-in once the round starts.

I understand mapping to make wall jumping more fun and a larger part of the game, but the attached screenshot is inexcusable. At no point should they have installed a water heater there, and at no point am I convinced that you shouldn’t just have stairs there.


DB is fairly blatantly mimicking TF2 with this crate / key thing, and that makes me sad, as do load-out cards. I would much rather just be able to, I don’t know, choose my weapon. Not wait for some dumb card after hundreds of hours of game-play (maybe) to tell me I can use a particular weapon.

The game of almost.

I like that I can put music off thx for that.

I have only played Fragger so far:
I like that his HP is now 150
I think he moves qlightly slower which is no problem
I like that the nades are more powerfull BUT they can benefit from more damage power: when I cook a nade and throw it right on someone who is shooting at me from a rooftop I want that person do be killed certainly when it is a medic with 100HP… just feels an underpowered ability (and it is the only one!!)

dome feels alright… Maps overall are decent, but not a single map gives me the woohoo feeling when loading it.

the card animation is way too jerky and not realy giving something extra.

about the sounds:
I wish some guns sounded more powerfull
I want to hear footsteps more clearly!! give me something to turn up that volume or to eliminate environment sounds
I like the new voices there are a bit changed I think

Lobby
Is it possible to stay in the lobby and then press start match and I am directly in game? I mean it would be good that the game is loading behind the lobby screen. I can then chat a bit or w/e but staring at a cricle saying loading is annoying.

Overall:
I like the update. Maybe mercs needs some more depth still. And make the nades of fragger more powerfull please! Nade thrown at someone’s feet/head with 100hp = kill

I’ll have a bit more of a go tonight to try and develop a better opinion but, my thoughts so far.

To be honest i think there are some positives to the changes, but the problem that they have caused is that they have further highlighted the inadequacies and shortfalls.

By that I mean the increase in damage for Nader I think is welcome, but (and it’s a big but as you can see :wink: ) now she has too many nades and too high a rate of fire. If you give someone a powerful weapon, they should have to make a choice when they use it. High power = miss and I die, or, low power = higher rof but more skill needed to get the kill.

At the moment the high power weapons are too deadly in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing with them and that is causing a gap that is too hard to bridge, not only for lesser-skilled players, but also for less offensive classes. I found so many times last night that phoenix going up against Nader, Proxy, even Fragger or Skyhammer, is pretty much a waste of time in a fair fight. Ok there’s an argument that offensively any time you want a kill you should use cunning to backrape/ambush/spawn camp your opponent instead of having a fair fight, but I don’t like to play that hard on a pub where people are trying to have fun. It leads to many rage quits and empty servers

Dome: #Hard to comment too much since i’ve only played it twice but the map seems in need of artwork because currently the first stage plays like a maze. Lots of grey coloured boxes with doorways that either lead nowhere or just lead to a window for camping. That thought may change of course.

Thank God I can switch the music off!!

Proxy suffers from the same problem as Nader, as do most of the aggressive mercs i:e too much one shot killing = no skill when you can spam the shots. Vassilli has always suffered from this problem where a decent sniper can relatively easily pick off 3 or 4 people with the rifle and then sort another two out with her secondary. Drop the secondary to a pistol and lower the ROF on primary. Snipers are supposed to be slow and meticulous, not a one man army with a built-in team wallhack.

This is it !
Clearly I dont like the new update. There is no evolution at all, I still don’t get the new update name …
Now DB is more than ever a “Generic” shooter with this short TTK.
Nade, mines, spam just kill the fun … just yesterday been powned maybe 5 times in a raw just by lost nades … I just hate this, it’s kill the game and there is no fun at all.

Nothing interesting for the moment …
and all the important bugs we all see (connection lag, lags, etc …) are still here.

So I will play sometimes but clearly not interesting anymore if the game go this way.

I still don’t get the “double ability”. this is just a spam fest with short TTK like every shooter do, but others do it with more style and better maps. So why are we still here playing DB ? Waiting for something who never come … I still have a bit of hope since Exedore is taking the lead, but that’s all … My interest for DB is now close to nothing.

And I’m not aware of what potty said about hope and new stuff, maybe if you tell us some good story that can help.

Could someone please clarify - does it take less headshot to kill someone now?

Stokers Fire = Good
Naders Nade = Good
Fraggers Nade = GOOD!
Skyhammers Airstrike = Good
SAW Medic Bags = Good
Medic Paddles = Good
Player Collision = Good
Walking Collision = Good
Green Sight Scope Gun = GOOD! (GREEN DOT!!!) Seems a little hard to find the head though… Was something done to HS hitboxes? Sort of an odd Camera animation on the recoil while scoped it goes up and then slowly settles around 50ms… Does the ROF match the recoil green dot animation? You are aiming down a gun so I think it would be slightly more snappy reset not this slow 50 or 100ms drag down reset…

Aura Shotgun and Healing = BAD
I am just going to play her shotgun and 1 or 2 hit everyone and use my USA lag to my advantage… I was Fragger and someone else last night going against an Aura and went negative K/D. One hit across the map would take 30 HP or something… Then she is so fast that she magically appears and one shoted me…

Bullet Collision = BAD
I still get hits on gates and rails and bushes and trees and random crap around the map!

Dome MAP = BAD
Really SD you are turning a map inside out with objective progress… The gates are not blown at first and have to be build? WTF!!! Thats like saying theres not great wall of china BUT once the mongols attack and are either on their way or actually in china THEN we will build a wall after we push them out even though we knew they were coming. MAP PROGRESSION!!! Story!!! Give the map LIFE!! Not some Tube in the middle of nothing that needs a thing… I played DOME 4 times yesterday and never got past the first stage… Not once!! (AND PIX and I were on the same Team! Teams were stacked and we couldnt do anything!!!)

Phoenix = BAD
His gun is underpowered and he doesn’t heal enough… He is not a medic… I was running around looking for SAW’s to HEAL ME!!! Self Revive needs to teleport you somewhere else on the map or it needs to be faster! Something…

Shotgun’s and Shotgun Merc speed = BAD… Its crazy fast and two strong… Give them 50 HP and then it might be OK…

Nader Nades = BAD and Good… I have to admit they are a little spammy… Especially when you have 3 naders running around ON each team so 6 total!!!
She had potential… We could use a panzer! One shot every 1 or 2 mintues! Yeah!

Proxys Mines = BAD/HUH
They are stronger but still sort of useless if you are paying attention… Give her 1 mine and hide it from the enemy… Create a Covy class that can spot it to counter it…

Rag Doll Dead Bodies = BAD!!!

SW Spawn Times = BAD
This is still broke… Didnt you guys develop ET??? How hard is it to put 25/30 and a running Clock? FOR REAL! what are you scared of? They are going to say you copied ET? Ahhhhh NO! You are just using a MODE from ET that was very successful… FIX it! Just make SW Mode and Spawntimer the same as ET and fixed what is so hard about it!!! SD needs to get the noob bs crap out of their head… People will come and people will play if it is a competitive shooter with random addicting crap from LOL…

Fragger Recoil = BAD… Yes 1 headshot with fragger will do some serious damage but you turned him into a body shot spray and pray machine with epic nades!

Load Out Cards = Good/BAD
I like the different gun on different mercs (Sort of) but I do not like the additional perk abilities… Most are useless right now… You need to get that special combination of what and how you play.

Auto Sniper = Take it or Leave it… I was not totally impressed by it… The recoil is byond crazy and even if you reset and you think your next shot is on it doesnt hit? I was confused by this…

Zoom in while Long Jump = BAD and wtf?

Zoom in while scope on Green Dot Gun = How do you edit this?

I still think SAW and Phoenix should be Headshot masters with very high skill ceiling… They are close… If you can rip faces you should be rewarded…

Lag while people JOIN = VERY BAD!!!

Slow Weapon Switch = BAD
I know you have a perk for this but fix this… I and even people I spec will try to switch gun and actually end up shooting a bullet! When I am sniper I want my heart beat thingy and switch but then it magically goes back to my gun and shots a bullet! WTF… No I did NOT want you to shoot a bullet I want to throw my heart beat thingy!

Invisible Players? = BAD
Last night I had like 10 WTF moments and were the F did you come from moments… I have very very good situational awareness and I was killed from no where… Even after the first few bullets hit me and I turn I still did not see anyone!

Turn FF ON!!!

I miss some of the RLRL battles… This update basically boils down to which merc can I pick that will give me the most kills per life, dish out the most spam and do the most damage the fastest and stay alive! Auro Heal station and shot gun? Naders nade spam followed up by gun? Fragger with a headshot camping a corner?

What is up with crouch? I still think you slowed it down to much because good players were spamming it… Make it more snappy again or a little more so; so we know when the spread reduction takes effect!

Did you make LEG hit-boxes wider?

Like I said before the Skill Ceiling is lower… I was getting killed my random lower skill players last night and wondering HOW! It felt like 3 body shots and I was dead… The game feels a lot faster and it was actually a little hard to sniper last night… People zigging and zagging all over the place and everyone back raging each other… Not fun… Even if you work as a team with medic’s, fraggers and anything you will still be whipped out by spam…

All in all there’s really no reason to AIM anymore and especially for the head… Things seem to have more recoil or shaky on hip fire and the classes are so missed balanced is sad… TTK is to Fast! Please put the Shooter back in FPS

Its all Spam now… Most Fast kill classes you do NOT need to aim for the head… Shotgun is one or two hit kills and Fragger is like 3 body shot kills…

Overcompensation must be used only if you’re totally lost.
some things, that are very well known for quite a long time should be tweaked like a guitar tuning. slowly go for the unison.

and some changes seem realy out of place. like slow down in weapon switch. it was not fast enough before. (and there are threads about this issue - http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/41753-Proxy-s-shotgun-no-shoot). game doesnt favour fast players. and now it slows them even more.

Yes I understand this, you need to change stuffff to find the good things.
But for the moment sorry but even the new “Dome” iteration is really weird, if this is the “futur” for DB maps I’m scared, obj design is not fun !

Well I still need another FPS to get the fun ! I play DB cause I paid for and I want to know the end of story (I buy a cinema ticket), but for the moment I can’t find the fun to play anymore, spam fest, boring maps, short TTK, waiting 3 min between each rounds, etc … something is missing.
The DB universe is really poor for the moment, maps don’t have any life at all, side objectives are for the most part useless, and alternatives routes ares missing (this part is much better in dome). I feel like doing the same stuff over and over without any choices at all.

ha and yes, what glottis said ! Are you lost ? Did you have a plan ? a global vision for the futur of this game ? cause for the moment I don’t see any consistency since 2 years … another 2 month to wait for minor tweaks ?

I’ll give a +1 to that as well, but just to add:

I can imagine it must be incredibly frustrating from your side to put in so much work and then receive so much negative feedback but, if I can speak for myself at least, i’d personally be more than happy to play a half finished product with massive room for improvement IF I could enjoy myself at the same time. It’s like having a Walkman (or an iThingy for all you young 'uns) … you could put up with it having no fast forward or rewind if you could play your favourite songs while you waited for the features.

Now much respect to Spookify there, no way could I do that stuff if I practiced sniping for the next year and half but, this is a sniper in close quarters and he’s just took out 5 guys on his own. Waddup wi dat?! To quote from Wiki “A sniper is a highly trained marksman who operates alone, in a pair, or with a sniper team to maintain close visual contact with the enemy and engage targets from concealed positions or distances exceeding the detection capabilities of enemy personnel.” A sniper shouldn’t be Rambo on (more) steroids.

My own personal annoyance at the moment, Phoenix: Complete waste as a combat class because he’s outgunned by just about anyone and everything in the game. As a reviving med and support role he should be able to at least defend himself. I’m putting 6 headshots into people and they’re still stood there taking me down with one shot from a shotgun. It’s crazy!!

I don’t mean to sound ungrateful or like I don’t have hope for the game, I do, a lot. But as much as I can appreciate, want, and look forward to things like the new version of Dome, if every time I go on a server I get screwed over by kdr whores playing Team Deathmatch, then that gives me two option. Stop playing the game, or play TDM ansty style and start back-raping, camping, and hiding in spawn along with the others. none of which I want to do

It’s as soul destroying for us to really look forward to an update and find that these and similar problems haven’t been addressed, as it must be for you guys to come into work wondering how much has hit the fan after releasing an update you’ve worked long and hard on. At the moment i just feel sad for both sides :frowning: <- Sad face

This worries me, and is one of the reasons why I despise the Call of Duty series.

I think i’ll save myself some frustration and not bother playing again until the next patch when it (hopefully) gets fixed.

Thanks for the kind words :smiley: but I would also play sniper by sitting back in the base and long ranging people… I just find that boring… The risk reward for being on the front lines as a sniper is very high… If I miss that first shot I am dead or I need to give myself enough space to get a second shot off… I lovea Da Sniper! :smiley:

Everyone was going for Fragger with the 3 burst gun… 150hp plus a an accurate gun heck yeah… Game feels like we have taken a step back with balance… I thought we were close before; well maybe not haha but this is odd playing now.

slowly getting better,
ofc, still need:

all classes enabled, including rpg class, and the other engie class,
attachments,
extraction(gameplay, not obj/stopwatch) focus testing,
more maps (maybe with some height this time?),
new different class abilities (frost stoker grenade, third eye camera showing screen over radar, etc),
trading, etc

game still needs alot of work, not gonna bother trying this update, maybe in the next two updates
