Merc Idea:
CLAWS

NATIONALITY: unknown.
GENDER: what seems to be a male.
APPEARENCE: half reptile half human, wears a torn and dirty, long scientist’s coat.
BACKGROUND STORY: Agent Claws- real name unknown, was a CDA medic and scientist experimenting on unknown substances found by the CDA.
one day there was an explosion in the lab, a crew of 5 mercenaries came to steal the virus.
Claws knowing the virus is very precious for the CDA, took as many virus containers as he could and tried to escape, but the struggle was for nothing.
he was cornered by the crew of 5 men faster than he thought he would be.
without thinking too much, he drank the virus out of one container in a fraction of a second thinking only
about one thing, if the CDA won’t get the virus back, no one will get it.
than he immediately fell on the ground choking and spitting blood, he could feel his body slowly transforming.
after what seems like a minute he woke up and chased the mercenaries for the rest of the containers.
when he found them he tore them up one by one to pieces and took the rest of the virus back.
he then ran away into the sewers and with what he managed to take from the old lab he created his own private lab.
fascinated from the recovery skills he was gifted by the virus he started studying it more.
with the virus, and his new, upgraded brain, he managed to build healing virus bombs that could help others recover faster from bullet impact.
3 months after the lab explosion and after several JACKAL attempts to capture him, Claws needed firepower to
defeat the growing JACKAL attacks.
he climbed out of the sewers and went to the old lab to look for weapons. he found light, personal defense weapons
that the scientists used in extreme emergency cases, he put those weapons in a bag he found and proceeded
going back home. when he arrived he found his lab totally broken and shred to pieces, and a large group of mercs
was waiting for him. he tried to fight, but with no luck.
then was captured by the jackal and brainwashed to join them.

ABILITIES:
ability#1:
defib. pretty strait forward.

ability#2:
virus bombs:
throwing bombs that when hit a surface make a small area cloud.
heal allies that get into the cloud.
damage enemies getting inside the cloud 5hp/1sec.
duration: 10 sec
cooldown duration: 10 sec
amount:2
if hits enemy directly does 20 points direct damage.

he uses weak weapons because the lab scientists dont need to use heavy weapons when under attack,
and that is what he found in the old lab.

It’s okay. A 140 HP agent with defibs, and has a healing grenade.

It’s like a mirror of Sparks, best ranged healing, poor revives, slow moving tank, and using sidearms only.

It’s just that the flavor doesn’t really fit the abilities. And in order to make an ability suite that would fit the flavor, you basically need 3 abilities.

Such a pity.

Nice suggestion.
Defibs are a secondary ability tho.
Can we give him light SMG’s Hokfire, Crotzni etc?

I tried to make him a mirrored version of sparks, at least sort of, and he already has good ranged healing, with plenty of health and a little bit more damage output. so for balancing I thought it would be better to give him secondary SMG’s only.
and thx I didn’t notice I’ve even put the defib as 1st ability

I thought maybe give him a 3rd ability that needs to be activated upon death that, if you die and are able to activate it fast enough before being slashed down, you basically let go off your tail and it would pick the first target in an x meter radius and will stick to them for like 3 seconds and deal damage. (you know, cuase he is a reptile/lizard or something like that)
but it sounds like it could be super lame or super op if not balancing right

The stats seem balanced.

The only thing I don’t actually like is the fact that this dude is half reptile, it doesn’t fit the main story at all actually.

The stat and abilities are fine, though

it was actually my first merc idea with a background story so I’m not pretty good at creating stories for them

How much does the med station heal for? That should be your baseline, I personally think that the healing is too low currently, as you’d would need the full 10 seconds to fully heal a rhino. You shouldn’t make this merc quite as strong as aura though, as it is much more capable on offence than she is. I like the idea, it’s a good one

How would one stop the healing cloud? Would we have to wait the duration, or would killing the merc end the heals prematurely?

you can destroy the cloud with explosives just like redeye’s smoke cloud, if not, you would have to wait the duration.

I like this merc idea quite a lot actually. Just maybe don’t make him half reptile, it doesn’t make that much sense. Besides that though, I do agree that he needs an “on death” ability.

Also, if he wears dirty rags, how would those change with loadout skins?

I think his pants would change their color, and maybe his lab coat will have little numbers and symbols that would change too.
