Clans. How much in game support will there be?

(Optical_Fibre) #1

Firstly. Will there be an in game clan system? (not just tags)
Secondly. Will there be a tournament facility?
And thirdly. Will there be a way of personalizing clan clothing?

Since playing KZ2 I find it hard to accept that all other games have no in game clan options. If this game were to copy KZ2’s clan options/tourneys It would make this game even more of a winner than it already looks to be!

I think there is clan cloth coloring, but thats about all I’ve heard.

a tournament facility? why?

If I wanted to play in a tournament, i’d rather play in official tournaments like ESL, CB etc.

Stuff like Brink replay servers and shoutcast capabilities on the other hand, are more then welcome.
I would expect no less from SD

I hope there’s a rigid party system.

And integrated leagues with a rating system would be great as well. It would be the next logical step, first get the casual gamer into hardcore multiplayer, and then take his hand and put him in competitive leagues without breaking a sweat, just like Blizzard does.

How do these constitute official?
I’m curious of your definition

yeah, I mean what could possibly more “official” than a league system that is built into the interface?

I’m hoping for an in-game clan system. That would be a huge help, but I don’t see it happening. Paul once told me that it will really fall into the online stuff which will “be discussed at a later date.”

(Nail) #8

isn’t that available through Steam ?

(Optical_Fibre) #9

I dont know of any other games that have a clan league on steam. But I may be mistaken.

Steam has groups which you can create and join, attach servers and I believe also organise dated events and publish them to the group etc. There isn’t much in my experience of integration (via Steamworks) of those groups within the game beyond server selection.

At a minimum though you could use a group, with invite only membership as a means to maintain membership of your clan and allow other players to verify if people on servers are in your clan or just aliasing.

Not necessarily just for clans/competition but I’m all for games bringing a lot more social tools to online multiplayer, making and playing with friends is easier and avoiding idiots possible.

Starcraft 2 has a party system. Very flexible, any group of say, 4 people that enters a league automatically becomes a group and receives a rating.

I seriously like to see this in Brink, bloody hell that would make the game addictive as hell.

There can/will be esl/wcg/mlg ect. whether there’s an in-game system or not. Its the console versions that will benefit most from this anyways. (for obvious reasons)

I haven’t seen or read much in the way of clan support. My guess would be that the extent to which the game incorporates elements specific to clans will be on par with your typical game in this genre. But, with the advancements in other areas of the FPS by this game, I could very well be wrong there.

For consoles I wouldn’t mind seeing something similar to the Halo 2 clan system. Separate tab of people in the clan and their position. However I much prefer the term Team instead of clan but whatever works.

I am a KZ2 fan who just recently became excited about Brink. I would like to see a good party system and maybe some special clan emblems.
