One thing I don’t get is the lack of Security Tower, Refuel, and Container City in competition…especially in 3v3 where they excel.
Yes, those maps are difficult to complete 100%…but the good thing about them is that they are very easy to make progress… And there are a lot of objectives, so you will rarely end up with a tie.
On the other hand, Terminal and Reactor just end in a bunch of full holds because few balanced games are able to get past the first hacking objective.
In a typical Security Tower match, the offensive team will either get stopped at the delivery objective, or they will get some progress on the escort. On Refuel, it is common to get stopped on the second objective, or any of the following objectives…but none of them are extremely difficult by themselves.
I think people are thinking too much about how easy it is to complete the entire map…when a greater concern should be easy it is to make progress. Having a long (and difficult) sequence of relatively easy objectives is a lot more interesting to watch then having a match that starts with a difficult objective.
You’re suppose to actually set a time by playing the whole map; that’s the whole point of stopwatch.
But if we can’t set times in any map other than aquarium (talking about matches between two even teams here)…then why not play maps where you can make progress?
I also think that Security Tower is easier to complete than Reactor or Terminal. There are only two difficult spots… One is the deliivery objective which can be a problem if you allow the defense too much time to setup. The other is the chokepoint on the escort mission…which is tough for pubs…but a coordinated team has enough time to attempt several pushes on that spot.
I’ve never seen Security Tower in competition. I only saw it on the Day 1 Brink TV games…and in those games, the attacking team only attacked head on, and didn’t utilize their ability to drop down to the other side of the chokepoint, which is necessary to complete that objective.
Now, someone is gonna say that they know from scrims that the maps are impossible, and they are gonna add a or some other emoticon that is meant to subtly show the superiority of their logic.

Yeah I understand that, it’s just stupid to have to try to judge “progress” instead of SD just fixing the stupid spawn times.
The thing with Sec Tower is it kills ATI cards; I’m lucky to get like 27 ~ 35 FPS whenever I play it. Plus Refuel always has sound drops even after they’ve “fixed” it. Like I still noticed my sound going wacky after that patch. It would cut out and cut back in but really faint and then it’d sound like stuff was just on the wrong side of my headphones half the time.
Wow, I like the jab at my smiley though; it was more of a “wow this sucks that leagues/tournaments/ladders are having to/will probably have to resort to judging progress and it shows how much BRINK failed” than a jab at you or how “superior” my knowledge of a dead game is.
You are right. Spawn time adjustments could probably fix everything.

If no spawntime tuning is made in dlc/patch the game is really over.
No fun in public and too much full hold in competitive games. I dont believe they cant realize this. Just go play some public games…
