Clan System....wtf

This is a duplicate post i made on bethesda forums also:

I really do not understand how the ladders work, nor the match records or actually any of it…

Last night my clan Goon Mob had 2 matches arranged:
Match 1: [GOON] vs [HRD], 3v3 holiday event ladder match at 22:30 est. We joined game, waited til 23:00 then after several attempts to contact [HRD] memebers with no response we decided it was a no show.
But the ladder doesn’t see this…so we didn’t get rewarded a win, cant start with out them cuz that needs 4 players…Holiday ladder should have 2 wins for [GOON] and 1 win 1 loss for [HRD], issue needs to be fixed.

Match 2: [GOON] vs [GFK], 5v5 global ladder match at 23:45 est, Everyone attempting to join had a problem joining (full game message for me), we both had all 5 players ready but could only get 4 per side in at one time, game was also marred by the fact [GOON] voip was fully functional, [GFK] voip was messed up, certain players could hear each others, some players couldn’t be heard by anyone on either side during warm up.
Ladder: doesn’t reflect the win we got, neither does match history…

What we need…
A clan index, rather than ALL user created clans being on the ladder, they should be on an index listing mo,st members to least.
Ladders, Only teams on ladders should have recorded at least 1 win or have minimum of 5 players.
NO shows, clan site/game needs to have a way to detect a no-show from a clan, and give them a loss, team that shows up records the win, you cant start a 3v3 if the other team doesn’t show up, so it cant default win/loss.

Clan site is [censored], don’t work for the most, doesn’t record match results very well at all, has my clan at rank 147 after 2 wins…but says we have 0 wins 0 loss’

Stats ID vs PSNid/XBL ID etc: The site should have the correct in-game id, not whatever you choose, this makes communicating with other clans very hard.

I have helped DEV on a few mmo/rpg servers and we used 2 things that could highly benefit this game, 1: TEST SERVER, before anything was released publicly it was played, trialed and tested on a test server by a selected group of testers (actual game players who had been chosen to help
2. BETA …don’t need explaining

I think they said that in a no show, you are supposed to still play through the match to get credit. Not sure though. But if you need 4 players, then there is nothing you can do.

Personally, if it doesn’t award a win after no-show, then that is fine with me. I just have bad memories from all the boosting that went on in the Killzone 2 clan system. And since no-showing is so prominent in online games, it doesn’t really work to award wins based on it. You end up with teams who have like 2 real wins, 2 real losses, and 20 no-show wins.
Instead of wins, I just think there should be a separate statistic for “attendance”

I believe the same thing happened to Arkestra last night by the way. I wasn’t there, but I believe the other team didn’t show, so we didn’t get credit. But that is fine with me.

Being able to search clans by number of members would be cool.
Teams with 2 players should be able to get on the ladder, cause that’s the minimum you need for a match I believe.

If both of your wins were on the Holiday Event ladder, then it wouldn’t count for the Main ladder since they are separate. The Event ladder index doesn’t show the wins/losses correctly, but the Elo rating is correct. For example, even though NWO beat Arkestra, it didn’t show the win and loss on the index (it does on their profile), but it did change their Elo ratings correctly.

This system is most likely a test/beta for Splash Damage’s next game. No matter how hard you try, no built-in clan system will be fair. The rankings and stats don’t really matter… The important thing is that it gets people playing organized matches. The system is the means, and the matches are the end. The goal should not be to look pretty on the ladder, but to make it easier to find organized matches for your team.

Your probably right bout the no show, A reliability/attendance counter would be better.

We have 1 win on either ladder, only 3v3 ladder recorded result.

Part of the ladder making sense would be looking “pretty”, harder to find teams worth challenging when we cant see if they are actually playing matches or have enough players to do so with out clicking on their page, then having to return to ladder, restart the scroll down through 190 one man’s in a 200 strong ladder

On a side note you have a match vs [HRD] tonight, as said above, they were the no-show crew.

What I meant by looking pretty was not that the ladder itself doesn’t need to look pretty (it should be as accessible and functional as possible), but that clans probably shouldn’t worry too much about whether their ranking is fair… because in my opinion, all that most of us really want is just a chance to play organized matches and experience the teamwork that you can’t usually get in pubs. Its nice if the ranking system is fair, but I don’t think most of us are using the clan system because we want to be #1 on the ladder, but because we want to get matches. And, with a very small active clan community, I think that everyone will know how good every other clan is from experience…and we won’t really care what the ladder says  That’s my way of being optimistic, anyway.

We will see if HRD shows up tonight.
