Well, the Axis were in need of more funding for the war effort, and took to raiding certain Egyptian Tomb’s during their stay in North Africa. The Allies learned of this and proceeded to carefully bomb the sites they were excavating in order to shut them down. One site in particular, a very ancient Tomb(before the Pyramids), was heavily bombed. On closer examination, it appeared that the tomb had been abondoned sometime ago. Thinking the Axis would send in another team, Allies have sent a troop to watch over the Tomb.

 Allied Objectives

~Dynamite and cave rubble that hinders your progress
~Repair the light generators
~Build a comand post
~Prevent any Axis from pilfering the tomb

 Axis Objectives

~Dynamite any cave rubble that hinders your progress
~Repair the light generators
~Build a comand post
~Investigate the Archeologists dissapearance (retreive the Team leaders journal)
~Loot the dead kings tomb (steal his death mask)
~Loot his treasure room (steal the crate of gold)
~Escape with all three items to the awaiting convoy

 This map will be DARK!!  It will be near immpossible to see without at least a few generators running.  Also, with the way a few of them will be postioned and the lights they light, it might be beneficial to blow some at the right time(ie., you can blow your own generators).  Also, this map is going to be BIG!!  The central area, know as the Great hall, is nearly 2000, 500, 800 units.  Nice big open space with lots of different areas to shoot other people, hide and run......and fall to your death.  Theres a fairly descent maze of corridors on both sides, and if I can script it, a few traps here and there.  And my real reason for wanting to do this, and since this map is inspired from the RTCW "Crypt", I want roaming zomie mummies(if possible, can still be fun without them).  I think that would be so cool, and would be a nice change of pace.  So, tell me what you think, leave constructive feed back if you would or just give me your over all opinion of my idea.  Thanx

Only a couple of things spring to mind, the thing with it being dark might just force ppl to turn up the gamma on their videocard, then have to turn it down again when they play another map. Could get annoying. Also I don’t like maps where you can easily fall to ur death! :slight_smile: Other stuff sounds cool though, if a little difficult to make.

Sounds good. A few notes though.

Mazes, zombies, all cool ideas… but maybe not ideal for fps battle. ET is a multiplayer fps game and should stay that way. Too many periferals (or however you spell that) distract from battle, which always stould stay the #1 goal; good multiplayer firefights.

Are the first three objectives for both sides the same, or do they have to do the same just at different places. If they have to do the same you might get internal conflicts, since doing your own objectives might harm your own team.

Anyway, I like the idea and will keep tracking this map. When the map’s out I’d be interested to beta test.

Nice concept, but I’m not sure it will work in ET.

  • Dynamic lighting really doesn’t work very well in Q3 based games. They also give poor FPS.
  • It is hard make darkness fair. Some people use very bright configurations, so if you make it dark for them, it will be pitch black for others. If you make it dark for people on stock configs, it will be bright as day for others. Restricting peoples configurations beyond a certain point is unfair, because of differences in monitors etc.
  • In my experience objectives which can be destroyed by your own team don’t work well. You either get people who destroy them just to be asses, you get people bickering over which ones should be destroyed.
  • Lots of falling hazards, along with darkness, will get old very quickly, IMO.

Hmmmm, thanx for the feed back. About the darkness, once you get the generators running, it will be nice and bright(and no team destroying either). I will plan on not making it as dark to begin with though, maybe slightly darker than Radar map, that shouldn’t be so bad(or just eliminate it completely and add something else). I will also implement some kind of stone railing, though you will still be able to jump on it if you tried(like existing railing, ie., Goldrush). Zombies…well, I would like some sort of nuetral threat. Might not be a good idea anyways though. Thanx again, going to go refine some and maybe lay down some brushes :banana:
