The new influx of players (Alienware) show us that more players mean more cheaters, not in a commensurate way, but more in an exponential way… I decided to play 1 round of 6v6 SW and I had an aimbotter on my team. He eventually got kicked…
Cheaters are ruining the game atm
It happens in every game. Take video of them and send it to Nexon if you care. If you don’t just votekick them. Being surprised that there are cheaters in the game and calling out that the game is being ruined when every single game in FPS history, regardless of anti-cheat, has aimbotters/cheaters.
I wonder if a “please investigate these players for cheating” list can be generated for players with high votekick to something ratios.
Also the new influx of players ( not cheaters ) are pretty fast calling hacks on players that have played the game longer, rip publics.
Yup. With all the new players coming from different/slower games a lot of them are quick to call people a hacker. A couple of streamers from Arma3 called me a cheater while I was watching their stream on my other monitor. Then they called Oen a cheater later. It took a little convincing on Oen and my part, including Oen going on their Mumble, but they finally saw reason. And if fairly experienced FPS players who have a decent stream (one was partnered) do that then it’s probably pretty common for the typical player to do it.
Sure, plenty of new players might think higher ranked players are cheating but that doesn’t discount the fact that there are currently a ton of cheaters in Dirty Bomb.
The first 2 servers I joined yesterday had cheaters. My team mate’s first 3 servers he joined had cheaters. Im talking blatant cheaters getting %100 headshots. A few even advertising their hack sites. These ARE NOT JUST GOOD PLAYERS!
There is no doubt Dirty Bomb has a fairly large cheater population atm. Cheaters are a HUGE turnoff to new players. Unless SD takes a serious stand, DB will be just like all the other Nexon f2p cheat fests. Cheaters or Overwatch will kill DB. Just a matter of who does it first IMHO.
Need some pubs with high level requirements, I’d say 10+ at least. Farming noobies isn’t very fun, so join the pugs and ruin that kdr
!
While this is true, I’ve only encountered 1 person who did that this past week, whereas I encountered about 7-8 blatant cheaters and about 2-3 that I suspect were sneaky cheaters.
As someone else points out, yes, there are cheaters in all online games…but keeping them in check is crucial…and to do that we’re going to have to have direct dev involvement. They seem somewhat content at the moment to simply ban an account here and there and turn the rest over to nexon, and in the longrun, that’s just not going to cut it.
No, free keys means more cheaters. Free keys + low player population is really the worst possible situation. A lot more players means encountering a cheater (or pro player) on a pub becomes increasingly rare. Right now it’s fairly common (though the chance to run into top players is still far higher than encountering a cheater).
Personally I actually haven’t encountered all that many yet. Perhaps it’s worse on NA servers?
definitely dont think game needed as many keys released as it did.
a) stacking is a huge issue and people drop the game after getting owned, calling hackz n p2w nexon
b) more cheaters, validating some of the whine from point a)
c) no ranks in MM, so all the good players keep mixing with the newbies.
I’ve only seen two/three all weekend and I put some time in. You’re saying you saw 7 between you and your friend at the start of the day?
It seems some people misunderstood me, I hate cheaters to the core, but I also hate the fact people are really easily calling hacks on players.
Blatant cheaters should be kicked out of servers instantly and banned within a day. Anti-cheat just needs to step it up a bit, no other way, kicking and banning people from servers manually is really annoying process for every party included (players on servers, gm’s etc) and they have already managed at that point ruin someones good day.
People are really paranoid right now due to the increase in obvious cheaters and influx of new players. It was pretty rare to be called a cheat in the past but now you can get called a cheat for hitting a couple of head shots in a row. That paranoia is just as bad for the game as the blatant cheaters.
I’ve played a LOT of games in the last two weeks and this is how many cheaters I’ve ran into. All have been banned but they were all using what appears to be the same aimbot.

Keep in mind that a lot of the cheats we are seeing now are cheat developers advertising their products. There isn’t much anti-cheat can do about that, because the latest version of a cheat obviously always works around the latest anti-cheat… sadly nobody has developed a client side anti-cheat yet which cannot be sidestepped whatsoever.
Perhaps server side analysis like Battlefield’s Fair Fight or what it’s called could deal with the most blatant cases. But that’s pretty advanced, and it has to be perfect because false positives would probably do more harm than the cheaters themselves could.
I wonder though why encountering a single cheater should ruin anybody’s good day. I can understand that it could be really annoying if it ruins a good game in progress, but otherwise to be honest I don’t really understand why people get so worked up about this, when all it takes is to join another server.
To be honest blatant cheaters never bother me too much, but it’s the thin end of the wedge that does lead some to question players that could be either very good, or using the hack in a more subtle manner.
I normally err on the side of thinking the player is good, but yesterday I felt like a certain individual was just ‘wrong’, the shots received from him had a really fast staccato ‘feel’. I mention recording in global chat and suddenly his performance drops off - or at least that is what it felt like. Which is the heart of the problem, it’s still all subjective and just tends to take the shine off the game. I finished the map and cba playing another round with or without him.
Moral of the story it might not actually be the case that someone is cheating but unless SD/Nexon take this as seriously as the monetisation aspect of the game they will bleed players.
cheaters are causing me not to play as often as before i cant deal with cheaters who are so obv and dont give a **** to ruining gameplay 1 hacker can cause the game to be so unbalanced by miles and without spawn protection its game over
