Cheat Prevention Efforts

(Kroad) #21

lol really doubt there are hackers in every game you play, what you mean to say is “better players”

(crooKk) #22

Would it be possible for a third party to create an anti-cheat for this game? I know when I played Soldier Front 2 briefly a third party group (UGN) who ran tourneys similar to what Dirty Cups is doing in DB, developed an anti-cheat for that game that players would have to log into before a competitive match.

Players could also connect to it while pubbing and anyone could view which players were currently logged into this AC client. From what I saw, it caught more competitive players than Xign ever did.

We still are looking into other programs for sure. We have been talking to Steam and discussing with them what they think our best options are. CS is also on it and going to be a lot more aggressive. Expect some news on this soon- we want to be really transparent with our efforts against cheating and will update you when we have more details on our policies. We’ve also been stressing how important it is to have an in-game report function so hopefully we get news on that as well.

(god1) #25

Another thing that should probably be prioritized is an actual in-game reporting system. I just simply can’t be assed recording video evidence and going through all that hassle to report somebody when I know that they can come back 15 minutes after the ban with a new account.

(MissMurder) #26

@god1 I completely agree. Along with improving the vote kick feature

(Hack) #27

Preventing cheaters has to be the #1 goal for any first person shooter, if cheating is common place the game will die, it’s that simple.

(elfinBracket) #28

@MissMurder
Could you delete two posts in the steam forum that contain game cheat websites?
Ideally could you also restrict them from posting in the forum?
I have sent the posts address through message.

Today I played with [removed – please do not single out other players on the forums]. He just walked with arty and get obvious aimbot, his mouse pointer go always to nearest head. He end up with 100% HS and no deaths.

(Gaspoline) #30

what is the fastest way to contact someone about a hacker ingame? (and I mean like, not typeing fastest, but like, what way will someone be able to see the report the fastest?)

(CC_FANG) #31

The User Abuse form is the best way. You aren’t supposed to post them on the forums, but that form will get your report directly to the GMs.

(taupeSea) #32

So true.

I don’t mean to be dick-ish, but if you (the dev team) truly wished to put a stop to cheating you’d simply switch to VAC secured servers. Though Valve may demand a stipend of your profits from DB…or may refuse outright since it’s their program. You never know unless you ask. Even if they say no, there are other programs that are not Xigncode you could use that work…better.

Currently uploading five 30-second videos to YouTube of a user using an aimbot. It would just be one longer video, but it was my first time using FRAPS for recording instead of an in-game FPS overlay. Will edit this post with a link to the videos once they are uploaded.

On a brighter note: love the game so far (minus the cheaters).

Yeah considering there wasn’t a single Mod around yesterday when there was at least 5/6 hackers destroying game after game. So we report it to nobody, in fact, then somebody might deal with it a few days down the line. So until then we get shit on by idiots.

(fuchsiaWin) #34

You know this would be MUCH easier for all of us if we could use the “View players --> Current players” thing via steam to actually see the players that are currently in that round, it’s not showing anyone in the game as it is now when you press it. That way we could maybe make easier job for you guys by simply reporting them via steam. At this point we can’t do shi*. Also your anti-cheat is somewhat outdated, why not just get VAC? That would get rid of them for sure.

(fuchsiaWin) #35

One solution to this would be VAC. Since it’s obvious you don’t want to give Steam a small fee to get rid of all cheaters… It would be nice if the (when shift+tab/open steam menu) “View players —> Current Game” button via steam worked to see the actual player names in-game, we could report them for you. (You can press it now but it won’t show anyone whatsoever)

(guru{Chux}) #36

I dislike the “name and shame” rule here on the forums. Every cheat report gets locked and the material removed. It’s like people here at Nexon are pretending it’s not happening and try to make it seem there are no cheaters. The community was always good with handeling cheaters on its own. You should be able to reach steam profiles of any player anf if they are cheating should be hung here publicly for everyone to see.

(mOist) #37

The only way to deal with the hackers is to get rid of xigncode , not only is it a hopeless anti cheat it causes more issues than it solves.

The game should make ample funds to get a decent anti-cheat software , even the worse FREE hacks will bypass xigncode without an issue , it will only come to light just how prevalent hackers are when the crappy anti cheat bans a person just for them too take 2 miniutes and make another account , either hardware ban or cough up the $$ and invest in a anticheat thats worthwhile , the fact you need people to monitor live games should surely show you that xigncode is rubbish.

I speak from experiance with xigncode where i got banned for almost 2 months on special forces 2 after spending around £250 for running a program that changes the vibrance of the game’s i use (Im legally blind and i can’t distinguish some grey or monotone colours) i contacted them and got a reply only 3 times in 2 months with broken english telling me i was cheating it wasnt until i spoke to an employee on skype after much begging gave him a link to the program which he said wasnt a cheat and it was getting flagged as such that i got unbanned. at that point i’d lost the will to play the game and so they lost the future profit they would of made from me as im sure dirty bomb will lose customers if there going to get banned for using Anti-virus software or other legit third party programs.

edit: incase anyone asks the program was SweetFX.

(Tomme) #38

Xigncode while might be the most technically advanced anti-cheat would perform fine for this and many other games. The difference is actively keeping it updated and maintained, this reasonability lies with both Splash Damage, Nexon and Xigncode, though obviously I don’t know how much of a role each company is expected to play to make it an effective anti-cheat.

people are complaining about “Name and shame”.

The reality is it is in place to protect not the Hackers, But the people aka good players who are accused of cheating. The truly good players who get accused don’t really need the abuse that some people will dish out. Following the approved method of reporting hackers prevents that.
