im new to mapping but ive taught myself how to map and im starting to create my own now, i was just wondering what size (grid size in radiant) a person is, i know it will depend on what size you have your grid at but any help be much apreciated
when im testing my part made map the rooms seem a little small, and wen i made the door :eek:

thanks in advance

Insert a info_play_deathmatch (or something similar) into the map. This cuboid has nearly the same size as a player modell and you can use it as placeholder.

48 or 50 ET units is about 1m … this makes the player seem to be a little bit small, but it feels right when seen from first person view

The sizes I have and they give very little leeh-way (has approx 2/4 extra for gridsize for forgive space on some of the following… so these are very safe #'s) ;

Tall = 80
side/side+front/back = 40
prone = 48 high / can spin in a tight space of 56
crouch = 56

here is something useful i found by looking at stock rtcw/ET maps

it seems the best hight for a window or ledge you want a player to be able to shoot over and a bit downwards from is 32 units

and if you are making a window then give 49 units above that for the open space (that seems to work for me)

here is a pick that is made to thoes measurments

hope this helps
