I want this game to recreate the feeling of ET so bad that I’ll give just any tiny ideas I have.
Here’s about character models - one thing that faild in brink was character customization. Something that might have looked good on paper did not work because it created so much confusion. You need to ID both ally and enemy and their classes very easily. It kind of creates attachment or something. The characters here dont look customizable which is good, but it still seems that allies and enemys are hard to ID because classes dont have much in common. Teams even have small color dots and stripes to tell the apart, which kind of implies that you think yourself that they need additional visual ID besides their “uniforms” That’s bad. In ET where was no trouble to ID the enemy without neon dots on them. Allies were brownm axis black. Simple. But at the same time classes differed enough to tell them apart as well. . Please make the opposing forces classes wear somehintg that clearly sets them apart… withou neon blingbling:)
PS The guy with the big backpack is good . Looks like medic from Bad Company 2. Very easy to ID
Character models
I disabled the enemy glow and thought it was easy to tell the teams apart. The Resistance and Security had very different looks.
I was kinda disapointed when i saw different class models… Games like that are never taken serious and are mostly played for “casualcore” fun (TF2). ET and ET:QW had roughly same models for each class and were distinctive by colors or gear on them . I think that Dirty Bomb should have taken the same concept in order to be taken as serious Esport game . This also brings another problem to the table - HITBOXES .
well its true that its a little bit confusing(for visitors on streams which have no idea of the game as example).but i see their a big potential to do a fair pay system. like in league of legends .you can buy a skin ,a basecap…,but you do not too .the point is ,to (hopefully) only sell cosmetic would give the game a chance . i hate absolutly if you can buy guns… . i dont know why the puplishers dont get it but it kills every free to play shooter. for me it was the reason why i quit tribes ascend.every week another overpowerd weapon and to much ingame time needed to get them.
I wonder which factions we are going to play as the Merc…Red and Blue team?
I agree with the OP. The customization Brink had was confusing. It maybe is true that character customization makes the game look more fun for people who watch trailers/gameplay, but if they want the game to be succesful and active in eSports they just have to make both “sides” easy recognizable like in ET.
It still bothers me in nearly every FPS I play that I’m unable to instantly tell which team a player is on without an enemy name above his head. I absolutely hate this.
Please make enemies and classes easy to recognize, even in darker places or from a distance.
