Character customization question

(Ryan) #21
Welcome to the forums!

Good question. They (SD) have said that clothing choices won’t have any effect on your movement or ability to take damage or not take damage simply because they want you to be able to customize your character without being forced to look like a pillow just to ensure you don’t take as much damage as more lightly-dressed characters.

Hope that helps.
hihi a pillow

Anyway, I was wondering about the competative side of the game.
Like you are in a 6v6 scrim, and the situation asks for a “heavy” body-type, does someone need to disconnect and reconnect to the match using his different character? Or can this be changed on the fly asswell?

You probably won’t be asked for a certain body type, only a certain class/job. But don’t quote me on that, I’m just guessing.

The situation asks, is what I meanth that one of the team would need to be a heavy body-type to overcome the enemy team. (Not really as to complete the objective, but more to win and get the team forward because you need a guy with more strenght at any given time)

(Like for example, for defence on a certain objective one guy with heavy body-type to guard the objective might be a tactical choice, how would you switch to something like that without leaving the game first?)

You plan ahead? I’d say it is something you’ll have to think about before the match.

I dont have much to add other than this… tupac bandana.

(mjjdj88) #26

YA!!! Tupac Bandanas!!!

(Senethro) #27

Yeah, but that could lead to situations where you automatically lose because the enemy team chose a lineup that counters yours hard.

They’ve said that any bodytype can beat any bodytype at anytime, it’s all balanced in a way that’s fair. So you won’t end up in this situation where it’s impossible to advance because your up against a juggernaut army of heavys, mind me I’m paraphrasing but this is the gist of what they have said.

I think it comes more down to , “it might be easier to counter this vs this,” meaning beating a team of Heavies is possible, but it might take more “work” considering what body you choose…god forbid, actually working as a team and coordinating…Players want instant gratification, and just want to be able to steamroll anything they encounter.

I agree HORSE. I cant stand how players in modern warfare can get the best setup and win a game on their own, theres no team coordination in that game at all. I hope Brink requires good teamwork to be successful.

Are you gamebattles/MLG? I couldn’t help but notice the word choice and scrimmages generally scream MLG.

Regardless, up until now they have said you can’t change body type in game, but I am sure if enough people complained (a lot more than are currently complaining), they would reconsider it.

i dont think a situation would call for a body type more than a class type. i think certain situations will call for a soldier on the frontlines or an engineer to repair something, which you will be able to change midgame at the command posts placed throughout the map. dont qoute me on it but regardless i wouldnt be concerned about your bodytype depending on the situation.

I don’t think there will be a situation where you “need” a certain body type. Although different body types have different stats, I don’t think “needing” one to win will be a problem. I think playstyle will play a bigger factor than the skills they bring. Some people are good at playing speedy lightweights, others are good at being hulking tanks, in other words, players need to ‘know their role.’ If you’re a Heavy, play like a Heavy, don’t just choose a Heavy for the perks and play like a lightweight. Regardless of the advantages/disadvantages they bring, I think playstayle will play the biggest role in winning and losing.

you “need” classes, body types are optional

(mjjdj88) #35

^ ya like i said, situations will call on the need of a class not a bodytype
