Changing your avatar works!

Heyheyhey, follow your pic’s mantra here

Nothing, but setting a minimum requirement to unlock it makes it special. It turns it from nothing important into a reward.

It also prevents randoms from uploading whatever the heck they want.

Most importantly, we have to manually moderate images on the forum, no system auto filters them out. It makes it easier to moderate if only people that have spent a good bit of time here can upload a custom avatar.
With all due respect that is a pretty bad answer.
Firstly, if you dont want people to post inappropriate content they could just post those thing in threads.
Second, a profile pic is not supposed to be special or a reward, it is supposed to be something that represents the user (or some shit like that i’m not much for these stuff.
Well one could argue profile pic being equal to in-game skins; you can get some default ones free of charge to not being exactly same from all the other blokes or blokettes, but if you invest a little you get some eyecandy await for ya.

…In this case investing being at level of this.

Really? I thought it was a great answer.

It is the age old argument of Liberty vs Security. In this scenario you can earn your liberty for the sake of security. Sure, it may not in most forums be a reward or special, but it is here.

And the profile pic still represents the user, but they need to earn the right to choose what represents them.

Only when rep is fixed. Right now I’m missing over 40% of my points. That’s messed up!

Because it was a great answer(for some of us).

Btw:I have tested it and as i said,it chops randomly avatars(made some of pictures on first

type of resolution and second for other and third for avatar size one and results are…very

strange which confirms my theory :I).

Easy for you to say but not everyone can be commanders.

(Amerika) #49

I’ve never really looked at the rank system on the forum. I’m glad that custom avatars finally work though!

Signature is unlocked for Commanders, which is a much bigger reward imho. Officer is a nice spot for Avatars. It could even be argued that NCOs deserve Avatars.

I had that issue. If you check my profile it took me 3 uploads with different croppings to get my avatar just right.

(Ghosthree3) #51

Oh really. Damn, I’ve never really used sigs, nothing to say.

Amerika, if that ain’t one helluva badass “janitor” ready to “clean up” some “dust” from the chaotic forum streets then nothing is ._. I can smell the donuts, handcuffs and small arms.

(N8o) #53

First I have to look at your sticky picture on Steam, and now I have to see it here, too? When will the torture come to an end?

Mad Max? Nada. Roland Deschain from The Dark Tower books. Technically the image is from one of the comics.

The new Mad Max movie was pretty good though!

As much as I love Roland, I will forever see your avatar and hear “Witness me!” in my head.
