Changes to Anti-Hack Policies – Zero Tolerance

(MissMurder) #61

@Calico frowned upon. There are configs that give way too much of a leg up

(D'@athi) #62

This means from now on, we can expect work on the engine, to get some playable minimum-fps without having to squish down the graphics? Did I get this right? Finnally!

I am really looking forward to see the skins, which, as it appears to a consumer, where 90% of your work done on this game the last month. I really hope they look as good as I imagine!

Tbh, simply give the people low-low settings, which you approve, so there is no need for using config-changes to get playable fps. And probably switching-off texture streaming on machines, capable of it, which stops the first huge drops.

(Chirs) #63

@MissMurder Not really the reply I was hoping for as it doesn’t actually provide any detail.

I’m asking, as some settings smooth out FPS a lot and remove all the distractions lighting/effects can have on aim/awareness etc.

I don’t necessarily want to do it as it seems a shame to screw with the nice visuals, but just reading the config tweak thread for making changes to the Unreal Engine settings on this forum and looking at game videos that are linked, I can see it makes a significant difference to the game’s appearance/performance.

In some ways the visual results look pretty similar to ol’ ET configs used by most clan players, and I know it can make a difference as I played pretty seriously for a while. The point is that some settings weren’t allowed in ET league games for the ‘leg up’ reason you mention, which is why I’m asking which ones to avoid, so I can tweak mine for best fps performance without issue.

(Note: Just had a reply from Dirty Cups on Twitter and they don’t have any configuration restrictions in their current ruleset.)

I see a lot of the more pro guys seriously tweaking their configs without it being frowned on or considered cheating, so I’m a bit confused about what’s acceptable or not.

(Nail) #64

most config tweaks aren’t likely to get flagged as cheats but are likely to get min/max values as things get locked down

(Kroad) #65

if they’re frowned upon, do something about them

I’ve said it plenty of times already, only broken thing about configs now is that they remove explosions, so just force MaxVertexParticleMemory to be 400 or higher, as anything under this removes explosions, muzzleflash and I imagine red eye smoke.

(devilishCelebration) #66

Quick question. Whats to stop the hacker coming back again? Not even like theres a pay wall to get through.

That kind of thing definitely makes a difference in a firefight. Even the best players are going to lose visibility, face extra distraction from explosions going off in their faces, plus that will drop your frames at crucial moment when a nearby opponent has rock-solid frames and a clear sight to your head.

In terms of the game experience, it doesn’t feel right either. The SD team have spent years designing the graphics of the game and these config tweaks nerf the whole experience.

Also, the point of adding the explosion effects is so that they have a significant effect on gameplay, so that you’re encouraged to play as a cohesive team to counter them – aren’t they supposed to be both barriers to visibility and physical barriers to progress.

This game is fast and rewards accuracy. I think SD needs to patch or supply some clear guidelines to engine settings to avoid issues with config tweaks before more people start yelling about it, especially in competitive circles. I even heard it mentioned in Twitch stream last night and it’s clearly beginning to irk some competitive players already.

(D'@athi) #68

Yep it needs, but to be honest, original-low settings are not really feeling smooth while playing, even on 4x4ghz. Let alone people with the “minimum specs” hahah having drops below 10fps.
So atm, I for myself, perceive this configs as a kind of selfe-defense vs a bad game experience.
Yes, smoke, explosions, etc, have to be switched on, clearly!
But going on further talking about if some squishy, less detailed walls, will give you an advantage… No, not talking about this atm, when even people mostly used to console-gaming are upset about the fps.

Will the anti-cheat system do false bans for using the anti-cheat hook on obs for streaming? as this is the only way for me to get obs to hook into the game for livestreaming.

(Akselmo) #70

You could also just set the game windowed fullscreen and stream your desktop instead. It should work that way, without risking the anti-cheat hook thing.

Also to add to the topic, I was temp. banned for two days for no reason, or because of a false positive. First it just seemed like the ordinary sign-in issue like everyone else had, but after contacting support and digging into the log files I found out that I was banned for two days.

I seriously hope that SD will change the anticheat to something better, since I am personally willing to spend money on this game. It’s a lot of fun! But I’m afraid to do so, since I could get banned again for no reason whatsoever.

I have constantly this stress on me that I will get banned again for no reason, since I don’t know what caused the ban.

I did have NetLimiter (I use it for Spotify since Spotify hogs all the upload speed sometimes…), but game didn’t even launch back when I had that, so I uninstalled it completely from my computer. I do doubt that it would still affect my game, since I played DB flawlessly for a few days after that.

that’s what i was doing before (until i found the anti cheat hook for obs) i just prefer to not have my skype spotify etc etc show up on stream.

Ok this concerns me because I’m running NetLimiter too. Been playing over a week without any problems so far though.
EDIT: Oh NetLimiter is on the bad list…
EDIT2: Oh wait, I’m using NetBalancer, all good then!

(dubiousRequiem) #73

Kind’ve hard to report someone whose name consists of boxes, getting all headshots with m4 from long range

(Lordgandalf) #74

There are so many hackers/cheaters now have seen a guy teleporting to people and killing them round after round. Please ban hackers and fix exploits in this game. Until closed beta the game was nice and fun. After the controversial F2P open beta im hating the game more and more why because of all the shitty kids that need to cheat to win.

(Ardez1) #75

Have you submitted your reports to Nexon so the hackers get banned?

Yes please refer there.

(Szakalot) #77

boredom. If their accounts keep getting banned, they wont get to play with all the other mercs, etc. Aimbotting will get boring quickly if you can only do it as skyhammer + aura.

ehm… you are saying someone is using a teleport hack? that’d be the first!

(overwhelmingShellfish) #78

Well please stop these guys now, it’s getting a bit ridiculous.

I reported 1, not 2. It’s far too long.

We need a button in game. Do you know when it will be added ? I saw 2 cheaters today. One with a weird name impossible to write down.

(triteTongs) #80

@MissMurder Can I just link to twitch videos in the reports? It’s too much effort to cut the video and upload it and all that. I’ve seen and recorded at least three cheaters but I’m too lazy to upload and fill out a report. And I don’t have information of what server I was in (It’s not in the TAB menu). I just know his name and the date twitch or shadowplay recorded it.

Is a video and a name enough for a ban or an investigation? I feel like it’s pretty futile no matter how proactive I try to be.

Anti-cheat, in-game reporting, and viewing steam profiles needs to be the next major update for sure
