Change the minimum lvl for competitive matches from lvl 5 to lvl 10

(Drcipres) #1

I already post a thread in the disscusions of steam, and a lot of people are with me, it is really annoying, lvl 5 is not enough, lvl 6 can join to comp and they dont know what the hell to do

(Yes) #2

There’s still plenty of people above level 10 that have no idea how to play DB.

(XavienX) #3

Agreed but it is better than level 5s.

(frolicsomeCrane) #4

It should be 15, if you ask me.

The amount of time required to hit level 10 is a huge, gaping chasm; nobody’s going to make that trek, not for a game as new and small as Dirty Bomb, though it might make sense in the future if things change.

There’s this whole ranking system and everything, but as far as I can tell it doesn’t do much for the actual matchmaking. This may be an artefact resulting from a limited competitive pool. That’s probably the issue, rather than the minimum rank required to play in comp. I know I certainly wouldn’t have stuck around long enough to reach competitive if rank 10 was required - the rewards in non-comp are egregiously small.

If “they” (no one) has the will to even hit level 10, what the hell are they doing playing COMPETITIVE?

(frolicsomeCrane) #7

No. No. No. No. No. ~ Fragger probably

(Funkmaster_Rick) #8

Competitive is more fun and gives higher rewards than non-comp. One also imagines that those in comp mean to compete and therefore will put up a better, more enjoyable fight. It’s not at all a question of willpower - it’s a question of the time barrier. If you want robust, interesting, skilled competitive matches, having the requisite number of players at or around your skill level is an absolutely mandatory requirement. That amount of players will not realistically be achieved by demanding that they train for a week before being allowed to enter the hallowed, sacred competitive queue.

(aRagRappy) #9

Whether they put it at 10 or 15 or something else entirely, it definitely needs to be higher than lvl 5

(FilterDecay) #10

I’m only level 7 and I like comp although I stay away from games that I don’t know the map yet. I know like 2 very well so I try to stay on those for when it matters.

What they need to do is get people not to leave somehow.

10 seems like a good level. Level 5 only takes like an hour of play to reach, and there is a decent XP grind to Level 10 (About what… 1.8mil exp? Somewhere around there?)
It would help out with people being clueless, but still, Level 10s are still pretty unskilled.

(Amerika) #12

I got to level 5 in two Stopwatch matches so I have always been against level 5 being the minimum you have to achieve to get into matchmaking. If you can get into matchmaking before you’ve even seen all the maps then there is something wrong.

I thought level 7 was a pretty good level as leveling starts taking a lot longer after you hit 5 and at 7 you’ve at least played a few hours and have a lot of the basics down. 10 is definitely too high for the population size of DB that participates in ranked MM though. It would go back to being mostly deserted if it was changed to 10.

Well, im lvl 14 so a minimun lvl of 15 would be pretty good too

(vanqu1sh) #14

level 22 here. I feel like level 10 and above would be a nice restriction. level 5 is ridiculous atm, you get some people joining competitive matches that would be as much use just afk’ing in spawn as actually attempting to play. I got to level 10 after about 55-60 hours of gameplay iirc, if anyone’s even remotely interested in the competitive aspect of the game, they shouldn’t care about having to investing some time into it.

(RyePanda) #15

Unfortunately, the min level 5 is being used to keep competitive populated, which is kind of necessary, but what is the point of populating it with low level players who aren’t that competitive?

(AlBundy) #16

i had a guy on my team, level 43, and he went 5-23…at first i was like erm…then he said yeah man leveling was easy with the aura glitch…then i cried a bit

(Drcipres) #17

True but, is not like a different game mode or anything is just stopwatch with ranks, but for those who play comp, is annoying to play with medics or skyhammers taht dont know what to do, and also they think this game is a TDM, also they dont seem to read the global chat, they dont help the team in anything

(YeOldeButtcheek) #18

Imagine if they created a test first players have to take when they first click ‘Find Match’ in comp.

(Derpfestor) #19

As a Skyhammer player who likes throwing ammo boxes everywhere… I feel like I’m in the minority.

(Jan S.) #20

But…why they dont want free xp? Ive never understand players not throwing health/ammo
