Challenge mode

Just want to express my disappointment that this is required to get access to the basic equipment.

If I want to play an MMO, I’ll go do it.

I was OK with a 10 hour level up process that would happen simply though the course of playing the game.

However, I just don’t understand where grinding through achievements to get full access to the game has any place in an FPS. I want to play competitive games against other people online, not do stupid challenges over and over again. Why do companies keep adding this garbage into every genre?

Let people who want to grind challenges for achievements do so. Don’t lock me out of basic functions of the game until I also subject myself to this pointless exercise in tedium.

Please release a patch that allows access to this equipment without wasting my time playing these stupid mini-games. I paid the same $50 everybody else did, I shouldn’t be prevented from accessing the full game unless I jump through these silly hoops.

Thanks.

I disagree. You shouldn’t get access to all of the unlocks right out of the gate. You need to learn to use the character, and the challenge mode proves to everyone that you’ve got the skillz to use those other guns. You don’t just stick a shot gun in a kid’s hands, you teach him on a squirt gun first. That’s just good parenting.

That’s an ironically accurate analogy…my crappy AI teammates make me feel like I’m using a squirt-gun - especially during Challenges.

OP… you didn’t know this before buying the game? It’s hardly been a secret.

I’m fairly certain that you only have to complete the first 2/3 stages for each challenge to unlock the equipment and it takes a very short period of time compared to other FPS games where they’re level based. Also, once you unlock everything on your first char, newly created characters will have access to those items too.

With that being said, the lower your level, the easier the challenges are b/c your AI opponents match your level . So if you go in at 7-10+, they’re going to have all the annoying abilities you have access too and that can make them incredibly difficult and aggravating in solo.

If you’re having trouble beating them, try the search function as there are at least a few topics where people have laid out strategies for each one.

Yeah, I must have missed that. I knew about the leveling, but that didn’t bother me because it is not a long process and happens while you are actually playing the game.

I somehow did miss that I would be required to complete silly achievement grinding just to get access to basic equipment that is required. I could skip it, but then my weapons would be slower and less accurate than everybody else in the game, so it’s not really optional.

That’s great info about the relative level of the bots, thank you. I’ll make a new level 1 to do them on then.

I actually did have trouble with delivering the intelligence to end the very first one. It was me vs. all the bots to get to the drop off point while all my teammates were running around on the ground floor admiring the view.

I’m also not very good.
