CF News: Response to update 3 from the competitive pov

(chosen) #1

Yesterday night Splash Damage released the third update on BRINK. As announced Friday last week the update delivers a rather small list of changes without much to mention except the FPS/performance boost already confirmed by a few players.

“[…] Instead of clarifying the idtech4 and ETQW left overs, releasing a helpful list of officially supported cvars, finally releasing dedicated server files for linux or support Dignitas player drago to figure out a proper server config for competitive gaming a blame for issues on server admins can not be a solution. The only people who proclaimed this update to be a ‘game saving’ patch were impatient players, it was clear this update was going to be a small one from the announcement, those who thought otherwise only have themselves to blame.

Do people think this will be the last update or something?

We’ve had 3 updates in 2 weeks, it’s clear the support strategy is one of small and frequent updates rather than larger updates released months apart.

This scare mongering is starting to ware a little thing now.

yeah because we all know how well that strategy went for ETQW, fact is lack of information from developers about features that are not in the game that were promised, and information about the numerous technical issues are going to help kill the game off fast, not to mention they rarely say anything Crispy is the only one who actually does anything apparently

Every developer has one thing in mind.

Money.

Making sure the game WORKS is obviously gonna be their priority. Understandable.

We haven’t gotten ONE ****ING WORD from any developer yet about the horrific state of the game and how/when it will be improved. It’s extremely disheartening.

I’ve been saying this for a few years now, the only next real competitive game will have to be a total conversion mod for an established engine by people that know what their doing to build a competitive game.
