CCleaner cleans my DB settings

(Pheromone) #1

Hi,
Once in a week, every weekend im doing a CCleaner clean to my pc (registerty+unnecessary files).
When im logging into DB day after the clean,i see that all my settings are on ‘none’.
I mean that all my ingame keys becoming ‘none’,for example im trying to repair an objective it says: press ‘none’ to repair…
not just the keys, but also my crosshair becoming default and not how i designed that.
I have 2 question:
*Is there a chance that this can make me a suspicous user(changing game files or something like that?) and I can get ban for it?
*How can i avoid this? i mean is it registery or regular files?
Thanks in advance
Sean.

Set all your config files to read-only so they can’t be edited by outside programs. They are located in Documents>My Games> UnrealEngine3>Shooter Game>Configs

Configs are allowed to be ‘configured’. I know that macros are considered bannable so stay away from that. @Faraleth maybe you can clear some of this up?

The files are located in \Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame\Config
Don’t know how CCleaner operates, but the files are not in the registry. And if you delete the files they should be generated again by the game on launch with the default settings. To clear the binds you have to go into the files and edit them manually. So I’m not sure why that is happening. And yes, you are allowed to edit these files and won’t get banned for it.

CCleaner shouldn’t be picked up by the anti-cheat, because it doesn’t actually interact with the game in any way.

Anything an external program does to a game though is something you will have to approach the program’s tech support about, because sadly here it’s unlikely anyone will know exactly what such a program is doing to the game files. :frowning:

All I can recommend is setting the files/folders as “read only”. That way, they can’t be edited until you turn them back to editable.

I want to update on something…
Just to be sure that its CCleaner causing it i checked again, did a CCleaner clean, and all my settings were the same…
Im really confused, maybe it was just a coincidence? that i had CCleaner clean and then it changed?

nvm, sorry for being stupid,it did changed my crosshair and mouse sensetivity…

I thought those were saved in the cloud, considering they’re not in the .ini files like they usually are in UnrealEngine games. I suppose it’s possible it’s saved in the registry, haven’t checked. But in that case I suppose you could make an autoexec.cfg with the correct commands to set it to what you want. So every time you launch the game it’ll set your correct settings.
