Mmm sexy, if you hollowed out the mosque in goldrush it would look a little something like that. i’ve never used fog before but would it be possible to make fog like that where it’s barely visable. would that help fps, or not make any difference

It could possibly affect framerate, most likely on old hardware, but who cares about them eh? :wink:
IMO this is how fog should be used, as a subtle depth cue, not as a ‘only see 1 hundred yards in front of you’ trick for culling and stuff.

after much angst i decided to start my map all over again. the old one was about 90% done but it had some frame rate issues and hunkmegs had to be set at 72 to run it. It made me a bit sick but it needed to be done as there is no point to release a map that no one can play. i started building the new one pictured below last week. It is mostly the same only its smaller and less complicated.

how did you do the light rays? with alpha channeled tex or the new alphamod volume blending?

and I agree with my fellow rodent about the subtle use of fog, very nicely done in that pain killer map.

i borrowed a texture from gerbils mml_church :drink: for the light streaks. i may still put some fog in but first i must learn how to make fog brushes (cant have fog outside as its bright daylight). rebuilding was’nt too bad as i had a whole map of prefabs i just needed to simplify everything and make things smaller with less repetitions.

hmm someones been scanning servers. map is currently being tested by NW and SenF clans ( :drink: ). so far everything is looking and playing great just need to sort out a few small details then i will make a new version for public release providing im happy with the gameplay. dont know when it will be as it needs a lot of playing to make sure gameplay is decent.
