Maybe they didn’t know what the project was and wanted to know about it. They asked merely a statement about it. I suspect they propably wanted to know was there a way to for you to mutually exploit the “Castle Eltz” for some financial benefits.
Unfortunately, they now seem pissed even though I don’t think the defamation would carry as it was expressed as an opinion and not as a factual statement. Don’t know about the laws in Netherland though.
The reason why they treat you that hard is probably because they dont know a sh"t. They never played games, never heard of anything like “open source” and now they think you somehow gain money with that.
And even if you dont, they simply would be too stupid to find that out, so they just threaten you, so that in all cases they are right. Kind of sh"t when you have to deal with persons like that, who are out of time.
Do you personally wanna get YOUR “good” ol’ name, family and/or castle involved into some “axis”-story - concerning to this chapter of german history? Dont think so. Even if its a virtual story.
Dont get me wrong. Its a pity that he has to rework the whole damn awesome map. For myself - now i know i should never finish my rusty old map “Schloss Neuschwanstein” xD
Im pretty sure he will find a good way to rework his map - so it doesnt look like their castle.

If there will be ever a second version of the map, call it “Festung Feuerfliege” or “Fortress Firefly”.
After all the trouble you had, I think this would be a very good name for it.
