Carrying Objectives

Okay here are some ideas on objects that you carry (like nodes).

ATM the time to pick up a node is a tiny little bit to long to pick it up while moving so you actually have to stop which kinda takes out the momentum of the game. I think it would be nicer if we could pcik it up on the go (still holding F and timing it right) so that we could pick up the node from a fallen ally while running.

Passing the objective from ally to ally by throwign it would be a nice idea but i guess it only works with a good team :confused:

You can do this already if you get the timing right, done it plenty of times a proxy whilst running. Just keep the object in your crosshair whilst moving.

really? i play proxy a lot but never manage to pick that thing up whilst running allways passed over it in the last millisecond resetting the pickup progress.

I also agree that the pickup mechanic is clunky. I really miss auto-pickup docs from ET. It really takes away from that feeling of pushing objective together, and if you drop it; ill pick it up immediately and keep on charging.

The way it is at the moment, if you see an enemy, you drop the objective to engage. you almost never see people try to push delivery under fire; it is too difficult to pick it up, you can’t shoot; so just drop it down and kill everyone first.

I think this is actually one of the major issues with delivery objectives at the moment.

Some thoughts:

  • objective picked up like ammo pack/healthpack (automatically)
  • you can use your secondary gun when holding an objective (put it on your ‘back’, like Fragger’s backpack)
  • possible balance: slow down objective carrier (so no proxy walljumping around with a jug of milk)
  • return mechanic is fine
  • delivering objective mechanic is clunky, and its hardly ever clear which pixel of the final objective you can aim at, and which ones will interrupt delivery

I strongly agree on the point, that you should be able to use your secondary weapon maybe with increased erlaod time. But i disagree on the part that the carrier should be slowed down, at least not with all objectives.

My thougts on this came from the map ‘bridge’ that wasn’t in the recent builds. There picking the objective as proxy/aura basically meant you got it delivered; as it was too far for the defenders to mount any type of intercept
