Card Trading ideas

(Dr_Plantboss) #1

I was thinking about what Faraleth said about card trading, and how balancing out a game economy is difficult. I totally agree with this, but I think that the best way to find out how the economy would work is to just release it and let the community react. Based on their reactions, comments, and SD’s own observations, I think that we could have an effective card trading system by October.

The reason I made this post was to see what the community thought of this idea, and to just get it out there. So please let me know what you think!

There are a ton of problem to solve before, like the free gold card at lvl 7 which can be exploit.
They need some adjustments before the launch of the trading system. A trading system in a F2P is hard to balance, maybe more than the game itself.
If you can gain money with a game which cost you nothing, it’s a very good marketing, but it can ruin the value of items even before they’re sold. In Csgo, the game itself is nor free, and we have key to open cases. In TF2, it’s a premium account which permit you to sell items.

What free gold card? I didn’t get a free gold card at level 7.

You have a good point about gaining value. However if these rumors about being able to turn cards into currency and whatever it was turns out to be true, then maybe card trading won’t be necessary anyway.

@Dr_Plantboss
Personally, I didn’t get the free gold card, but newbies have a free gold card for aura or skyhammer at the beginning of the game, not sure about the level but I think it’s level 7. If you don’t had it, it’s because you hit that level too early. It’s like since few months if I don’t say anything stupid.

Ps: don’t answer to a quote INSIDE the quote, write after the quote. I thought you were just quoting without add anything at the first read.

I also have a little bit of a solution to what you’re saying. If you make it so that you can only trade once you hit a certain level (say, 10), then there shouldn’t be a problem with people using early card drops to trade at low levels.
This would also eliminate people who create new accounts just to get arsenal cases and then trade any cards they get to themselves.

Trading will happen eventually, but I’d much rather see majour game improvements before being able to trade our shinies around.

On way to avoid exploit is to only allow the gold card at level 7 to be trade-in-able, and no trading or trade up with it then you can’t use it as material to trade cobalt more easily. It will be used as loadout card or to reroll a bad gold card. Then nobody will have an advantage with this card over other people.
Allow trading after level 10 will only move the problem to a few hours later.

I think that you have to think about this: Card trading is 2 way. You can’t put in a random gold card to get the gold card you want, both people have to agree. So the game economy would be up to the users. In that regard I think that it doesn’t really matter what cards you have, only what you are willing to pay.
