Capture the flag!

(NullEleven) #21

It’s just a game mode. Even if it blew it would be interesting to try/have as an option.

(aLo) #22

This is a clanwar based game.

Like 2001 a space’s odysee, this game is not suitable for everyone.

Why? Because: people is not enough able to learn how to play.

So:

 1. go back in CoD /free shooters
 2. Learn how to revive people, buff people, gib people and syncro an attack

Ps: Reviving is not pressing F.
Reving is pressing F at the right time in the right place.

They spent all their time carefully designing a game around seamlessly merging singleplayer, multiplayer, and team/class/squadbased combat into a single gametype only to spend their time releasing contrived CTF maps that have been around longer than most people have been playing shooters, and certainly as long as SD has.

You guys posting here are real grade a geniuses.

If the sdk gets released, people will build ctf maps. Whether they be great, or ****ty I cannot really say.

What SD needs to do is make a diverse, scripted map or campaign with varying ending or victory scenarios that are affected by objectives completed, lost, or left unattended during the game.

That would be interesting, not spending their time on friggin’ CTF.

(ninestrike) #24

CTF? You mean FFA!

(Honelith) #25

CTF and objective capture points gamemodes is all this game needs.

(NullEleven) #26

I think we have a CoD player…
I find this a strange comment, like there is an endgame or something.
Do you get bored with CTF once you captured for blue and captured for red?
Get an assist, return a flag ect. Oh, now I’ve done everything, I quit, bye.
I don’t get it.
^^^THIS^^^

If it’s not replayable, I wouldn’t say it’s your attention span, or any shallow insult like that. It might be the scope of the game, or the lack of routes, or whatever. The only logical thing SD could do in a game that’s based around the idea of diverse, scripted objectives and centralized combat, is to make more open maps with more non-linear objectves, like Wolf:ET had.
Thanks for your wonderful insight as to how games work, Tokamak.
Waste valuable resources? They’ve got my damned $68 bucks. Game modes are repetitive, CTF would be PERFECT for this kind of game.

Something the game isn’t “about”? what the hell is that supposed to mean? did you get an extra booklet in your game case explaining what Brink is specifically “about”, and that under no circumstances, would CTF be fun in BRINK? I really don’t understand your logic here (probably because there IS none).
You mean you want to extend the replayability of the game where you do a variety of things by making it a game where you do only ONE thing?

Not a single person has managed to answer me why SD, who made the game the way it is, should work on making it completely different, rather than expounding on the idea.

Nonlinear objectives or campaigns would be the next logical step, but no, you clowns want to go all the way back to 1995, for friggin’ ctf.

(tokamak) #28

Well said.

(SentencedToBurn) #29

Capture the ANYTHING would be fun. It would make a new dynamic for CTF seeing as there are class-based roles people could play, and the Operative would ACTUALLY be useful for once…

Which would take WAY ****ING LONGER than making a simple CTF mode for the meantime, making the entire argument moot (not enough time/“valuable resources”).

Tokamak, you be dick ridin’.

What the hell is it with you crybaby pussbags getting panty-knotted about Call of Duty? jesus. Go back to playing WOW or something if you don’t like combat-oriented FPS.
You think COD is the only FPS with free-for-all? WHAT ABOUT QUAKE ARENA YOU DIP****?

(sirius89) #31

Imagine capture the flag modes with only light bodys and maps made only for CTF with huge amounts of parkour movement options.

That would be INSANE fun!

(Happymonster) #32

yes CTF but it would require a specific map,one that is symmetric has a midfield and 2 bases

but i played ctf in both cod and crysis and it seems that people dont have a clue what the gametype is about
in crysis i did a whopping 7 ctf maps in a row without a single cap from either side

(Velijah) #33

Definitely NO to CTF maps. People are having hard times adjusting to teamplay. Why going a step back.

(madoule) #34

exactly the point! 'nuff said…

my point: THIS thread has been “SentencedToBurn” since the OP!
CTF, pros and cons, should they, shouldn’t they has been discussed to death:
http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/search.php?searchid=2810217

additionally, the poll itself actually implies you exactly knew what the outcome would be, didn’t you?

(Shinta) #35

How is a mode with less to do more interesting to you then a mode with more to do? Just because you are in the “attacker” position on a map does not mean you stop defending key choke points. Similarly just because you are a defender does not mean you cant sneak around a flank and attack from an unprotected flank pushing their line back.

I have zero idea how anyone could be bored with the game already? We played counterstrike for how many years with the only goal being to plant a c4 or defuse it? You don’t have to be achieving something new to mix up game play please try to see the game for what it is meant to be.

(TheBIG_Lebowski) #36

I think it would be a great addition. Plus with the objectives you could do at the same time to open more of the map up would be cool too. Then not only would you have the flag to worry about but building stairs, blowing doors, or repairing doors, and all the other objective based stuff in a CTF mode. Sounds like fun to me.

(madoule) #37

you do want all those objective based features in it. that is not CTF that still OBJ based gameplay… like brinks supposed to. let’s just wait for the DLC coming. maybe there are additional tasks we haven’t seen so far. but you are suggestion is not CTF in any way.

(SockDog) #38

CTF because it’s fun and because it’ll break Tok’s heart.

(tokamak) #39

Regression starts in May

(dazman76) #40

If you must annoy Tokamak, please try and do it in a way that doesn’t affect the entire Brink playerbase - OK? Splash have a relatively small team, and I’d like them all to be focused on expanding and improving the core Brink gameplay - pretty please

Will you escape the ark, or save it? Or just us it as a container for a ageing gametype that belongs firmly elsewhere?
