Capping the amount of same Mercs on a team in competitive matchmaking

This has happened to me many times now. When 3 or 4 people party up join competitive and choose to pick 3 or 4 of the same Mercs, happened to me with Rhino, and Bushwhacker. Very annoying and in my opinion removes the competitiveness of the game. You join competitive expecting higher level play, not this. A lot of you are going to say stop whining and pick counters or do it yourself or find a way to counter it. Not everyone has the Mercs to counter it and it is really obnoxious to deal with. If i haven’t got the message across this is Competitive matchmaking. Just a suggestion to cap the amount of the same Mercs allowed on a team to balance out and make the Competitive matchmaking part of the game more Competitive. No clue if this is the right place for this kind of Discussion, so i placed the same message in “General Discussion”.

You assert that choosing the same merc is non-competitive, but you offer no evidence or argument how.

Lots of teams can be competitive by stacking one class/merc, while merely assuming the risks such a decision runs, one way or another. (See: Wolf:ET and most competitive teams running 4/1 or 3/2 meds/engies, or 3/1/1 meds/engies/soldat or fdops)

Bushwhacker stacking can be annoying but is very easily countered by players learning the mechanics of the game. Rhino stacking is less easy to counter, but can be done. And that’s really the greatest flaw in what you’re suggesting: Rather than (competitively) countering your opponent’s team, your team either lost on a basis of skill and/or merc selection. So you want to force the game to cater to you/your teammates, in turn?

I think it would play better if you could only have one merc and zero duplicates on a team or one merc per match.
