Cant play Brink on main computer (ATI) what else can i try to play it?

Hello all, i know there is alot of posts about ATI problems and poor FPS. But i also seen that some ati users dont have any problem at all and some frome SD kinda thinks that its not a issue anymore (all you need to do is lower grafic settings)

So i beat the minimum Specs on all parts, but still i can bearly play this game whit low settings and everything on low. Its just way to laggy, and i get random freezes that only get solved whit ctrl alt delete. Ctrl **** esc dont even work.

I use the 11.5a RC3 ATI driver and it realy didnt help much compared to 11.x i used before.

The strange thing that Brink playes alot bether on my “crappy” laptop

And i dont realy enjoy playing a FPS (first person shooter) on a 15" screen on a laptop.

So any advice how i can enjoy this game? From what i understand 11.5a RC4 is mainly going to help crossfire users, and tbh i dont have to much fate in the next patch (hope im wrong tho)

have no problems to run other FPS games like BC2, TF2, ME2 or other games.

If i click default settings it get changed to Texture quality high and motion blur on.

Instead of all the system specs and dxdiags from users with massive performence and freezing problems I would want to know the specs from users wich can play Brink without bigger problems.

Ok, that’s nice, but a game like brink should run quite smooth with almost max settings on a current PC or Laptop. For the purpose of running RivaTuner and MemStatus I even switched on my secondary monitor, in order to get realtime information on what’s going on on my sys while I play Brink. And even switching on my secondary monitor doesn’t have a great negative effect performance wise. I don’t have performance problems. my PC just freezes more or less randomly. And I tried everything from absolutely cleaning my sys from old drivers and renewing them with the newest bling and playing around with the catalyst and ingame settings. I even tried to play solely on my secondary monitor wich has a resolution of 1280X1024 as opposed to my main monitor wich has a resolution of 1920X1080. No improvements so far. The performance is good, but the random crashing remains and happens as early as in the customization menu till to a couple minutes in the actual gameplay.
I tried everything in the last week. I feel like I’m working for SD. And since I’m not the only one who tries everything to get this damn game running I’d say there are a couple hundred?, thousand? guys and gals out there wich payed a lot of many to work for free for SD.
Can you imagine a book with the last chapters missing? Even if the publisher is promising you, that you’ll be able to download them in the following weeks? Or better, everyone who bought this book has to read till the last written chapter and send the publisher a suggestion for the actual last chapter. After that it gets written and you can download it a couple weeks later. Sounds odd? Well, that’s exactly what’s happening with many of the released games. And SD didn’t proof to be an exeption. Actually its the by far worst release for me so far.

whont say i tryed everything. I tryed a few diferent ATI drivers and quality settings ingame, but i feel that im “fighting a war i cant win” since im pretty sure my computer are suppose to handle this game and i know its handeling other games good enough.

So in other words its nothing we customers can do but wait? And no, im not going to try a modified driver and mess up my computer.

I run a ATI 5850 11.5a with a Phenom II X4 955 that runs at 3.84Ghz, 8GB RAM, on an AM3 motherboard.

I have had very little issues at all and the game runs pretty smooth. in outdoors areas in game in a firefight I get as low as 45 FPS, but average around 60. Indoors I get 90 - 125 FPS.

I also installed the game on another machine that I built for a buddy and he is running a ATI 3850 11.5a with a Phenom X4 940 at 2.8 I believe. on an AM2/AM3+ motherboard. I had to do some tweaking to get it to smooth out but on average he is running it at no less than 45 FPS outdoors. and caps around 70 ish indoors.

I coudln’t say exactly why I get good performance, but I keep my machine clean and only game on it. vcredist, dxsetup and all .net’s

My buddies machine is a household machine, so it gets used for everything, and as I built it I have kept it uptodate aswell. vcredist, dxsetup, all .net’s.

I utilize the Reddit Brinkkit tool to tweak my config.

Maybe it is the dual core, that is about the only difference with most of the ATI users I have ran across having issues, they run dual I run quad. Hopefully SD has narrowed it down better and have some thing in the works for the patch coming next week.

I don’t think it’s a dual-core specific problem though; seen quite a few people with ATI GPUs and a quad-core who still have it (myself included).

Tried the latest 11.5 hotfix drivers (after fully deleting the old ones) and still getting anywhere between 5-15 fps on pretty much every map; whether single-player or multiplayer. It’s kinda ridiculous; this is the only game I’ve had such crazy performance with (The Witcher 2 runs beautifully I might add =p)

I’ve tried all the BRINK options to get it to run faster, turning off every extra possible option (things like shadows etc) and turning all options down to low, but it still runs at just 5-15fps :rolleyes:.

I could always try to dig up my older PC that has an ATI 4850, 3GB ram and Windows XP to see if that runs it; although the CPU in that is rubbish and I doubt it would be able to handle it.

2 Options:

1st Try a Config tool and Turn eveything down Disable all the fancy stuff Shadows Detail to 0 etc.

2nd Connect your Monitor on the Laptop and play
