can't find map

(Reata) #1

I started making a map like the one shown in one of the links on this site and I to my knowledge followed the instrution right but when I go in and try to open the map in th e game to look at I type in /sv_pure 0 then /devmap (name) then I get a message saying that the map could not be found but I looked in the folder and it was there.

just thought of another question. Can you convert a map for return to castle wolfenstien to an enemy territory map?

(ensiform) #3

um it is possible, read the q3map2 docs …

(CooperHawkes) #4

did you compile it? you need to have a .bsp file… the .map file is just the source
BSP -meta (BSP menu in radiant) should do the trick for the beginning

(Reata) #5

Yeah I compiled it and I have the bsp file in the maps file

(dark-tim) #6

maybe you could make a pk3 file and then test it.

(Reata) #7

how do you make a pk3 file?

(EB) #8

Pk3 explanation Here

(CooperHawkes) #9

he loaded the map with sv_pure 0… so pk3-ing it won’t make any difference

(Nocturne) #10

pack the file with winzip with ZIP extension, then rename the extension to pk3

so file.zip becomes file.pk3

(Reata) #11

that didn’t work still can’t find it

(EB) #12

You have to know this;
should be like:
mapcoordsmins -3264 3264 neg then pos
mapcoordsmaxs 3264 -3264 pos then neg

you had them like this:
mapcoordsmins -3264 3264
mapcoordsmaxs -3264 3264

Please don’t make so many threads about the same-thing next time, ok ? Goodluck.

(Reata) #13

Thanks for the help but it still tells me that it can’t find the map.

I won’t thanks.

(EB) #14

you must be putting it in the wrong place…put it in the MAPS folder that is inside of the ETMAIN folder and then load and compile the .MAP file in Radiant.
\set sv_pure 0
\set g_gametype 2
\devmap town

if that doesn’t work then something else is really wrong.

Thats what I have been doing. I Know that my computer probably has some bad memory could that be doing it?
